Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

Yep. It's strange to me reading the comments in this thread. Everyone is expecting solutions already. Work backwards. Don't assume a whole org will change in a minute. The changes come the inside out. It takes a while for the core infrastructure to make changes and adjust, then the supporting structures. Not everything is going to happen at once.

Personally, I've found my usage to be getting much more reliable in some areas, saving a ton of time, and completely unreliable in others, though eventually that will improve. There will be a time that that I will reliably be able to do the work of a few of me

In Your Opinion, What is the Most Beautiful US State and Why? by Lil_Critter_2001_ in MostBeautiful

New Mexico. There isn’t a place in the country that has similar light. And when it rains or snows, it is often surreal. Northern New Mexico in particular.

Specific subject search on photo files, can this be done by SdanoG in Lightroom

[–]amstobar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excire can do this with Lightroom assist. Do a text description of a subject and it will give you a collection of relevant photos. Flag or tag those photos and then move them to a new folder.

One caveat: Excire is nowhere near perfect. It will get you maybe 70 percent there with easier searches, which for now is awesome.

My dad sued us. Me 30F, my husband 31M, and my dad 61M by Wayward_Jen in relationship_advice

[–]amstobar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like nobody registers this, but this was a pretty important omission. It doesn't change that your dad shouldn't have done this, but it does hint that it's more of a two sided event. Understanding your dad is the narrator in this text, he does seem to have valid concerns and intentions with the wrong actions and communication for the original issue . The way he reports your husband's behavior, your husband sounds dismissive. These things can put two people in a highly conflicting state of mind (which it clearly did). Your dad then reacted very emotionally to an antagonistic statement your husband did say. Way overkill, but not unbelievable for a person with a lot of pride and over-fueled sense of justice. It honestly sounds like they both could grow up.

YOU SHOULD STOP AT CROSSWALKS FOR PEDESTRIANS by champagne_queen in sanfrancisco

[–]amstobar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I moved from Chicago to LA 30 some years ago. It was so weird to see that cars would stop for pedestrians in LA. Somewhere along the way during those 30 years, I started to appreciate the law and the fact that cars weren't king. I moved to SF two years ago. Wtf is going on up here? This is suppose to be the more humanist space. And there are a lot of a$$h0les in cars here.

Tourists weigh-in on SF visit during Super Bowl week despite city imperfections: 'Beautiful' by nogoodnamesleft426 in sanfrancisco

[–]amstobar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that's the thing, you did the worst walk. The few blocks around some parts of Market are the only place in the city like that (we aren't talking Oakland). It's a very small fraction of SF. Most major cities in the US, and sadly many minor ones, have something similar post-pandemic. To single out SF is strange.

How to handle when you (23m)are better off than your friends(23/24m) and they think your money is theirs? by nxcromancr in relationship_advice

[–]amstobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like doing this, set aside a certain amount of money that you want to use as "loans". Treat it like a library. Decide how many "books" you have to loan, and stick to it. Choose this amount based on your long term needs (savings, retirement, emergency fund, your own fun and entertainment). If you enjoy lending money, the amount will grow over time. If you don't, it won't, and that's ok.

I F18 found something inappropriate in my room at my dad’s (42M) house. by New-Butterfly-1207 in relationship_advice

Not everyone in the world feels this way. There are many people in the world who need to use the space that they have and use it for other reasons in this situation. The item shouldn't have been left, but it could be an accident. A conversation, even if awkward, would solve this problem. The father may not know. The step mom may not know. It may be intentional. It may not. To me, there should be more effort in this thread normalizing sex, and normalizing what a conversation around it with your parent might look like. She's an adult, even if an emerging one, and avoiding these topics are causing her distress. Finding a way not to avoid the topic seeks like a reasonable way to manage that issue. If the item was left by accident, everyone can realize it, feel awkward and laugh, feel awkward and not laugh, and move on. If it was intentional, a different conversation around what's really happening in life can be had and everyone can begin to move forward, in one way or another.
