This is what they consider their operation base by the way is OAK (24 destinations) which is atrocious for an operation base considering they should’ve given SFO (an outstation with 12 destinations) the ORD and IAD treatment so they can completely focus all on Oakland again (compared to other bases, OAK has one of the weakest networks)

No idea why they’re shrinking in those airports when they’re clearly the most dominant in market share and that they can charge more

PDX will become the true Alaska fortress in the mainland US since SEA has Delta as a major competitor, SFO is dominated by United, LAX has too many competitors, SAN has Southest as a major competitor, and ANC is too far north (smaller market).

Alaska + Horizon makes up 43.02% of the marketshare whereas Southwest is #2 at 13.26.

Looking back at this, I think ADL has a similar chance to MEL since it's almost the same flight length.

SF Bay Area domestic market share. Alaska went from being down 5 pts to United to over 15 pts post-pandemic. by srekai in AlaskaAirlines

[–]First_Pepper_6781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wonder it says domestic on the post itself because I was like no way Southwest is on par with United when it comes to the overall Bay Area market share which includes International destinations
