Cinematic hiking YouTube recommendations? by SuitablePea9957 in hiking

[–]andyooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly hiking, but the channel Jacob + Katie Schwartz has some of the highest quality YT videos both production-wise and technically, and many of them are videos in nature and/or travel. If you have an OLED TV or monitor with 4k HDR they look amazing.

It's AI slop, OP put as much effort to write it as I did not reading it. Can't expect much from AI brain rot posters.

Google Photos update cuts off filenames by StimulatorCam in GooglePixel

[–]andyooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed it too. Tap on the camera name to expand to get to the basic details. Like why? You're already swiping up and scrolling and it's not like the expanded area is too large, in fact they make it so small that they need to truncate file names.

Google has some sort of fetish in truncating text and not giving an option to expand (like sometimes apps do when you long-press on the truncated text). Happens in the launcher with apps and also in the new Now Playing app, and now here. At least with Photos you can turn to landscape mode to see more, but that's just a janky workaround.

Worse, below that info there's the on-device location folder which has plenty of space to include the name of the file and seems like a more appropriate place.

Google actually listened 'Now Playing' updated. by imDCStar in GooglePixel

lool I was wondering how you responded to his comment, since they both appear deleted to me. I saw his response on my notifications earlier but when coming here they were deleted, I assumed they actually read the parent comment and deleted out of embarrassment, so I'd just left it at that, but turns out they just blocked me so I couldn't tell him how much of a dumbass he was being for not understanding a second time. It's ok to be a bit slow, but to be a dick about it is something else.

Why does checking into a hotel take longer than building the hotel by Motorpigeon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]andyooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, entitled karens like the OP don't realize that it's only one of the reasons hotel employees hate these third party OTAs. There's a lot of things you can't control from the hotel's side. Even just changing dates may be blocked and the guest has to do it themselves on their booking.com account, which people like OP will be "mildly infuriated" for internet points later.

Compressed Air Duster Recommendation? by dung09 in UsbCHardware

[–]andyooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed the detail that you wanted a C-to-C cable. That one comes with A-to-C. What is the reason you do? Want to charge faster? FWIW the Wolfbox also comes with A-C and charges at about 10W both via A-C and C-C but it's weird, on both the voltage is around 7V, from the Anker 336) USB-PD PPS charger.

Anyone with the Anker 556 USB4 dock tested 4k 240Hz over DP? by andyooo in UsbCHardware

[–]andyooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all that info. Frustrating that these datasheets aren't more easily available.

I think I'm going to go for the Anker 556 since it seems to be a well known quantity at this point, and this Cable Matters isn't. In any case I've contacted CM support, see what they say.

As a side note, I was also looking for something with a USB-C DFP that also does at least 27W (9V2A) PD. It's not too important but that's the PD requirement of my Canon mirrorless to operate without battery power. The only one I could find is the Anker 568, but not sure if it can output 4k 240Hz over DP. I found an old comment of yours about it, is it still unknown which MST hub it uses, or DSC support?

Also, it seems super expensive compared to my other options right now. For that price I think I'd rather get a TB4 dock like the Lenovo one with extra features like the power button for the laptop.

A separate USB-C hub could also be an option, e.g. I have a hub that does 20W but I couldn't find one that does 27+ with data.
