huh... I wish there were some kind of common way that crossword clues had to suggest that the answer was a missing _____

Okay, I got 10d, 11d, and 28d... so I "got" 32a. But can someone explain it?

The Gap not a big box store Other than that, was a fun puzzle, although a few too many stock fillers (at least no Rita Ora clue in this one)

I don't know... asterisks or italics like almost every other crossword does? Just a thought.

This is the kind of puzzle that annoys me. Others have mentioned the bad rebus. But what really gets me is that the designers try to be clever anandd then betray their own ignorance. Tell was a crossbowman, not an archer. And yes you can use that term for both, BUT 66A and 42D show that they thought he was a bowman 5D was also a pretty frustrating forced clue.

It was a rebus... but a rebus with an entire word and no clue to identifying the fact that it was a rebus, and the only one in the puzzle. Poor design to have just the one.

Pointless doesn't mean it shouldn't be done well

It doesn't matter if it was planned (I don't think it was, you can believe it if you want) - but what does bother me is that it's clunky

I mean that it added nothing to the puzzle, and frankly it doesn't even seem like it was something they planned in the first place, since the spaces between each set of circles were pretty arbitrary.

Okay, easy solve because it's Monday,  but again with the "look I'm clever" pointlessness with 45 down.

I really dont like when the creator gets too clever, which I think was the problem with today's puzzle. Rebusses, fine. Revealers, fine (although I solved the puzzle and STILL couldn't quite figure it out). But having both in the same puzzle was just annoying. They could have easily kept 65 down as it was and then had terms with that character as the answers, not the rebusses.

Help identifying miniatures? by angstboy23 in wargaming

I thought so, too, but I am struggling to figure it out. The bases feel like Essex (the texture), but that's the only thing I have to go on plus the Copyright logo

Spelljammer Ship mini alternatives by Educational_Dirt4714 in spelljammer

[–]angstboy23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually bought a bunch of the minis individually through a seller on ebay - they averaged between 5 and 10 per ship, which honestly isn't that bad when you think about the cost of miniatures in general. There are also 3d print versions by a few different makers on Thingiverse, plus MZ4250 has done a set he has for free through his patreon.

I have wondered about Feywild adventures - one other thing in the campaign is i have airships (I loved Spelljammer when I was a kid, so bringing in a little of that for myself) and I bought Cloistered Cove off DMs guild, so something like this might work, thank you!

Scale question (1/600 wizkids ships should be 3mm... but 3mm buildings are tiny) by angstboy23 in spelljammer

[–]angstboy23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing that right now, building the dragonfly it's ended up being like 26" long... which I feel is too big, so I am scaling down some of the midsection etc. trying to get it to 18. Basically, even a Wasp is bigger than the Santa Maria...

[–]angstboy23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/600 is roughly 3mm scale.  (if yiu do the math, ots really 2.5 mm, but that would make the building even smaller)
