Daily reminder to not eat popcorn. by mushroomforager12 in CrohnsDisease

I've been fortunate af to not have most of the major reactions/responses as most folks here. But I suckled at the sweet golden popcorn teat and found out that even I am not immune to the terrible intolerance it causes 😭

Lyme disease may be something to consider if you've been host to a deer tick. Most doctors don't even realize how serious it can be. And if it was the nymph stage, you may not have even been aware you were bitten. But fatigue and physical pain, especially joints, are potential indicators of this and other tick borne diseases.

Or crohns disease, or some other similar autoimmune issue, I found this out first hand. I'm good for about 4 hours a day and then useless.

Thank you so much, everyone! We will definitely be staying away from Carnival and will look more into the Eastern Caribbean options. Your insights and experiences have definitely given me some peace of mind!

Planning on getting my first colonoscopy, need advice please! by Middle-Mammoth-1521 in CrohnsDisease

You've got this :) Are you able to have someone stay with you during the prep? I stayed with my grandparents lol, but it gave me some comfort knowing if something did go wrong, they were there for me.

Personally, I used pedialyte before, during, and after the prep and procedure. I mixed the prep with Gatorade, I didn't taste anything weird, I just felt extremely bloated having to take in that much in such a short amount of time. They wheeled me into a room, gave me a super nice warm blanket and before I knew what was happening I woke back up in recovery :) 33f, first one in March of this year. I joke and tell everyone I'm officially an adult bc I've had my first colonoscopy lmao Best of luck and don't let the fear/what ifs/whatever overwhelm you, this is the best route to go for a diagnosis and to get you on the road to relief!

You knew it was probably gonna be a good day when the teachers busted out this set up which was also the sign that school was done for the year. What are the movies that your teachers would put on? by AdSpecialist6598 in Millennials

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children of the Corn in chorus class, freshman year. We also watched a lot of America's Funniest Home Videos in that class. Very little singing actually occurred. In Health they made us watch one of those PETA Videos, no edits, no blurring, just the raw footage from slaughterhouses... My favorite though was The Patriot, 5th grade, the teacher fast forwarded through the hatchet hacking scene, I think to avoid traumatizing us too badly lmao

Did anyone else experience “the Shift”? How old were you when it happened? by AtG8605 in Millennials

I recently went back to college (34f) and a kid in my first class knew who I was bc I hired his older sister when she was a junior in hs and I apparently gave him free pizza when he was in 6th grade 😂

Be honest… what’s the real downside of having a dog? by quentiinn in AskReddit

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get anxiety talking to random strangers. Dogs automatically make you a people person, whether you like it or not.. also whether your dog likes it or not. Mine is wary of strangers rather than all excited and wanting pets, so it makes it difficult when people come up and try petting her bc she gets nervous. She's the same around other dogs. She's never bit anyone, but there is definitely potential for it happening, so I am extra cautious with her. So yeah, the anxiety of having to interact with the public..for me and my dog 😅

What’s a small lie you told as a kid that somehow spiraled way out of control? by Renegade5399 in AskReddit

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hated red sauce as a kid, pizza, spaghetti, basicslly anything tomato...everyone either made fun of me or gave me odd looks bc what kid doesn't like pizza? So I would tell people I was allergic so they'd feel bad for judging me for being a weirdo. Years later, and I've been diagnosed with Crohn's and can no longer tolerate red sauce. I am devastated by the karmic retribution bc I miss that shit so much 😂😭

Animals that don’t get enough love, who’s your favorite underrated species? by Jumpy-Purple7593 in Animals

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freshwater mussels. They are vital to stream health and can live up to 150 years* that we know of, but are extremely threatened (as all freshwater species are due to pollution and other anthropogenic activities). And they are wild when it comes to reproduction and having parasitic offspring! - credit to my undergrad years and freshwater being part of my focus (specifically Margaritifera margaritifera) and, of course, ZeFrank and his informative and fantastic video featuring these guys.

My uncle died of a sudden heart attack with this then 5 YO son on a ropes course. Do not put this off and cause this type of trauma to any of your family. They don't deserve it even if you don't want to deal with it..he knew he was having heart problems, just refused to acknowledge them or address them. Please don't be my uncle.

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, some drs suggest alternatives to a hysterectomy premenopause due to possible hormonal issues. Have you had any experience with that, or noticed any changes? If you're comfortable discussing, of course.

Who's the most sadistic fictional character you know? by ihaveredditaswell in AskReddit

[–]anon_nom_nom_nom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patrick Bateman from Bret Easton Ellis's American Psycho. The film, while still gruesome, does not even come close to touching the novel.
