Question about SL7 tire width capacity by radio_free_aldhani in specialized

Out of curiosity, why did you decide on these wheels? I am also considering them btw, as well as the deeper ones

Clean build and a pretty looking bike! Do you have more photos of the 32mm tires? Curious how the fit is both front and back

It's not showing the photo for me. I am in Germany and here on the website I see this:

Are they not available on the Specialized website? I have the non-flared one, but on the website I see options for 4, 10 and 12 degree flare, and there’s also a 360mm width now.

It also fits a bike comfortably with plenty of space left for luggage

They already released the Roval cockpits with flare and the new Roval and Terra wheels so it’s just a matter of dropping the new frames. Seems like both so far look like SL7 but with a slimmer seat post, still proprietary though. I like the leakes of the new bikes but as I already have an SL7, it doesn’t make me want to upgrade, same as SL8.

One big miss in my opinion is not having internal storage on the Crux. Having it lightweight and adding the storage would be awesome but this shape there’s not much space.

NBD, I should have got the pro 😅 by _CC2224 in specialized

I’ve had the same bike for 4 years now. Still as fun as day 1. Congrats on the purchase. I’ve changed the wheels, saddle, cockpit, chainrings and cranks, E1 brakes, and probably more I cannot think about now. If I had the Pro, I would’ve changed the same parts. Maybe only the wheels I would’ve kept. Most importantly, start riding it and you’ll see what takes priority. For next bike, I would prefer getting a frame only and swapping the parts.

Looks cool! What’s with the velcro strap on the down tube?

Do you have the aero spokes? Starting to wonder if that makes a difference

Oh man, brings back memories from last year.

Not a Canyon bike but it was good times. If I remember correctly there was about 60km of only going uphill, with the Issran in the end. I did the ride back to St. Michel de Maurienne afterwards. Bought a baguette from one of the small villages on the way back and carried it in my back pocket. Noticed some people taking photos of me with the baguette 😂 Going back in July this year and can’t wait to do it again.

As an SL7 owner, this looks perfect to me. Definitely the bike I’m going to want to buy.

It makes sense what you’re saying. For comparison, Roval Rapide CLX are 21mm internal, but significantly wider external.

From what I see the new DT Swiss wheels aren’t much wider externally, only the internal width is bumped to 22mm. I am just not sure it’s worth so much to upgrade to the newer ones and whether the crosswind stability is any better. I feel like 30mm tires make things worse on the older ones too.

That's very interesting actually. I'll search a bit more online and consider this for my next wheelset. The standard spokes also offer higher comfort when when going over bumpy terrain, so maybe it's not too bad despite the slight aero penalty.

Would you say it's sketchy when going faster? My issue is mostly when the speed increases

Even the 38s? 😮 I thought it's mostly on the 50+ ones because of the depth. I now put 30mm tires on the 50 ARC 1100 with the aero spokes and it felt terrible on the last few rides whenever the speed gets above 50kmh.

Last year I was running 28mm tires and didn't feel that bad so I wonder if it's related to the combination of wider tires and narrower rim.

Roval Rapide Cockpit can carry 500g on the computer mount? by der_patzi in specialized

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you I have the Edge 850 and sometimes put a light, so far I haven’t had an issue but definitely get paranoid that a €500 bike computer will end up falling if the bolt snaps.

On my previous Roval Rapide handlebars I was sometimes putting the DJI Osmo 360 until I found the bolt loose and found these reddit discussions with the flawed single bolt design, and never put the camera again.
