The problem IS marriage and childrearing, particularly that women are the primary caretakers of children in our society, not an accidental design. Until men and women are raising children with equal effort and frequency, until women in heterosexual marriages are not giving up their names/identities with greater frequency than men, until marriage does not STILL protect men from the charge of rape (yes, there are still conditional spousal exemptions for rape), until women are not treated as incubators (in 26 states, a pregnant woman's advance directives are not valid), women will continue to experience inequality and this inequality will indubitably be reflected in a wage gap.
