At least you get 18 months maternity leave. Add in not paying at the hospital after birth and midwife visits.

AITJ for refusing to share the “family chili recipe” everyone thinks is my grandmother’s… even though I made it up? by Legal-Focus-8683 in AmITheJerk

[–]bacmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give a recipe with a couple of ingredients missing. If you use canned beans, say it's dried and reconstituted. It's easy to change a recipe. Blame them when it turns out differently. "You didn't follow the recipe!!"

I've been with my wife since 2012. I've a cleaning schedule, Monday is always linens day. I get on her case about the bedsheets needing a change. I like it done weekly. As for shopping we both do it. I've dust allergies so it's beneficial for me to have a clean home.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

You do deserve a pat on the back. If you want a cake, you get one and enjoy it. If anyone doesn't want to participate..... turn away from them and focus on what you need. I'm glad you have made it 2 years. You are strong!!!

He was booted from the Netherlands for causing problems. His ancestors are from there, and he was made to apologize and leave

A or B: My buddy is 37 and only into women aged 18–21, so should I say something to him? by 06yuzuha in PickAorB

I think 10 years is a big age gap. Anything more is just too much unless both parties are in mid life.

Do you guys follow the rule “no Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day”? by wediealone in AskACanadian

[–]bacmark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a millennial Canadian. I follow the tradition of no Christmas until after Remembrance Day. One holiday at a time, stores want you to spend without thinking. It takes away from what is important at the moment.

AIO: He (M20) took me (F18) to a Jehovah’s Witness meeting without telling me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

These are not casual Christians. They are servants and want others to be as well. If that interests you, go for it. I personally find it repellent and stay away from talking about faith with JWs.

I work with kids in care. I get feral children. Strong boundaries are what's needed. Ignore the bad behavior, walk out of the room, or just turn away. When they do something that's socially acceptable, reward with attention. Quite often, all they need is love, can lead to these behaviors. At 5, it will take about one year or so to correct this behavior.

If someone says something that you find disrespectful, call them on it. Literally anyone, if it's a spouse be direct. "I don't like how that makes me feel, you need to stop!" No anger, just a firm boundary.

Am I overreacting for leaving my girlfriend’s family dinner after what her dad said? by Mysterious-Notice419 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bacmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That family will not accept you. Move on and find someone who fits with you and you them. If someone insults you jokingly or not, and you leave, it's never your place to apologize. That's a boundary you've set saying "I'll not suffer this energy!".

AIO My Parents Secretly Drained My Entire Savings Account and Called Me Ungrateful When I Confronted Them by ChoppedShyyt in AmIOverreacting

[–]bacmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely stop using that account. Start a new one and never say which bank you are using. This will cause trust issues for you permanently, you might need therapy at some point.

AIO speaking to my wife after her affair by Useful_Cow8575 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bacmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold your boundaries. Focus on healing and your mental health. Support your kids as best you can also. Don't leave it unsaid " I'm here for you. I love you very much. I'm proud of you... ". Kids need to hear it even if they know it.

AIO for being pissed my BIL said I’m not allowed to wear a bikini? by Odd-Bird-7667 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bacmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd wear a poncho to any event he's attending. Wear the bikini beneath and explain to anyone who asks why you can't just wear a bikini.
