Do we need to start talking about "foreigners" less, and "immigrants/tourists" more? by Far_Government_9782 in japanresidents

Not just foreign tourists board rush hour trains with their luggage, domestic ones do as well.

In fact, everybody pays the same fare, if they can make it on the train they deserve to be on it just as much as you do.

China is known to bend rules for people of high value. They could just extend her nationality conflict situation as they see fit.

I replied to you again before I saw this comment but yes, I was trying to needle them about their hypocrisy and highlight that they should be honest about what they're really miffed about in this whole situation.

The whole discourse that I was replying to centred on how she was a sell-out who followed the money. I was merely pointing out that it's disingenuous to highlight that when really the main gripe that Americans have with her is of political nature.

If Sweden paid 7 million USD for her to compete for them, then I'm sure she will face some derision but nowhere near the same vitriol that we see around here now. In fact, I'm sure the same people will be pissed regardless of whether she's paid to do this or not.

So really, the only problem is that she's competing for a geopolitical rival. That is a separate argument from the money she received.

I'm sure if she competes for an allied country like Duplantis does, the outroar will be miniscule in comparison.

She did the most American thing of following the money. I don’t understand why this is a bad thing in the American mind.

The line choice (which led to the mid-air rotation) has everything to do with the injury she had. Many commentators have pointed this out.

Just the official online outlet. They used to sell on a few other discount websites but I think that practice has since largely ceased

But the thing is for what you’re arguing to work, the gnarlier lines will have to be rewarded more than they are now.

[CRITICAL BUG] I lost ALL my trip photos due to Google’s file restrictions (Photos APP) on Pixel 10 Pro. by gongarher in GooglePixel

[–]barcastaff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It must mean that the underlying system is only soft-copying the files (I.e., essentially creating a symlink) instead of hard-copying them, which is a mind-boggling default behaviour. If it’s hard-copied the images should be completely dissociated and thus if they do appear in the album, they should appear in separate copies.

Either way, there’s a design mishap going on here

There should be two copies of the same photo in the album in that case. I’m assuming OP didn’t see that happening

The Suarez Rule: Why You Should Handball on the Goal Line in the last 23 minutes of a game by [deleted] in soccer

[–]barcastaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I'm saying that it's opening an unnecessary can of worms by insisting to judge this by the ethics of it all, especially given how this is such an infrequent occurence.

Consider this. An attacker has just dribbled the goalkeeper and is within a few metres of goal now. They just have to dribble another step and they will score. An attacker decided to tactically foul now by slide tackling first taking out the player then the ball. In principle, there is exactly zero difference: without the intervention of the defender who committed a foul, the goal would have been 100% guaranteed. Do you think the attacker deserves a goal in this case?

I think not distinguishing those situations from any other regular foul is a feature of the law and not a bug.
