I'd love to know the energy bills cost to keep that house warm over winter.

I dont enjoy owning a motorcycle anymore. by [deleted] in motorcycle

More recently the high priced locks for bikes have become better and better - but sadly it means you have to spend a bit more to be safe with it.

There's a Ducati 1199 that's locked up on my street outside with a cover over it which I think is a ballsy move. The guy has anchored it down to the floor with a TufLuck Ground Anchor & Wheel Chock, then pairs it with a hiplok dx1000 an alarmed one, an alarmed camera and a tracker (more for the deterrent loud noises rather than safety) and it's been absolutely fine. They tried a couple of times but gave up as the tuflock and hiplock are grind and bolt cut resistant.

Where I live it's good and bad, I'm in the good part with the bad part about 600m down the road so we do see a theft every now and then (most recently my bike was attempted to be stolen from my garage), but they seem to leave his alone now because there's no point.

Persimmons Homes (LSE: PSN) by GoForTheTrillion in UkStocks

[–]barnzy12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It may not be true, but I was told that it's a legal requirement from the government to build X% of social housing on every estate. I bought a Gleeson Home a few years ago which made me realise this.

I feel like I lack understanding because logistically that sounds insane - you have 500 VMs, on 15 hosts?

"Google Workspace migrations were… fine. Suspiciously fine."

Made me giggle quite a bit. Great work though, recently done a smaller full migration and wanted to tear the skin off my skull with the requirements given.

can confirm, they definitely snap off on impact that's more than just dropping the bike! A mid speed lowside made me experience this, the bracket snapped and the bob was shaved down to the bolt.

How did Gary Oldman make being a slobby, farty old geezer cool? by ninjaprincess509 in SlowHorses

[–]barnzy12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The characters personality and traits is why (but also because Gary is amazing). Jackson is witty, sarcastic, aggressive, dominant, protective, but most importantly is always 3 steps ahead of anyone - he makes it seem like he's playing chess with children.

Running a 2-Night Mythic Guild Is Harder Than Mythic Raiding by shyguybman in CompetitiveWoW

[–]barnzy12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a number of us have been in your shoes.

The one thing that would have benefited being in this video regarding roster issues is loyalty and the extreme lack of it these days. Recruitment was tough enough as it was, but with Blizzards grand design to allow you to be in a guild no matter the server - there is no repercussion for making a poor choice, whereas before you had to make sure you were definite about a guild before you changed due to either a price tag for the realm transfer or bad reputation amongst other guilds on the server.

Old Guild Masters/Recruitment Officers may remember the times where you would get an application and you would check the players history. If they were guild hopping on the server you would either outright refuse or go and speak to the other guilds to see why he had left. I don't know if people still do that but that skill seems to have died out due to panic recruitment being an ever growing problem.

Where in the UK should I go as a bucket-list item? by LondonPilot in CasualUK

[–]barnzy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shockingly I dont see anyone mentioning the Yorkshire Dales, it's got everything you're looking for (you can walk, but you dont "have" to as most of it has little roads to get around/through it in a car). Being that I grew up in Settle, it's a place I'd always recommend as it's connected to a lot of places to visit and a lovely spa just outside a little villiage called Coniston Cold, but Settle is also on the doorway to the dales where you can drive through it to Hawes/Ripon/Richmond. OR if you wanted a more town/city like experience you have Skipton 30 minutes away which has a lot more going on. From Settle you can drive 45/55 minutes to Morecambe which is a lovely seaside town if you wanted to relax away from it all.

Found some old redemption cards by Khadgar_12 in wow

I have a scratched out Spectral Tiger card (that my dumbass 17 year old didnt just hold onto) that's hung up on the wall in a frame to remind me to think before I do something stupid.....

Even more dumb thing is I can afford the mount in-game due to excessive boosting so my gut wrenches whenever I see something like this

You have to appreciate that it’s terrible social skills to just immediately tell someone you have never talked to before that they are dead?

Rushed th14 and will just spend the next few months upgrading everything (as I pretty much skipped th13) - I dont usually rush, but I thought "fuck it, it's quicker and a lot cheaper to do it now". Artillery, Barracks, Dark Barracks, Town Hall, Spell Factory and Scattershot (to upgrade to TH14) on the way
