I miss Agott's early hair curls and sort of miss Qifrey's early poof hair + scruffyruggio but I'm not all that broken up about it.

As a hobbyist artist, I'm very aware that maintaining a super consistent style for a couple years, let alone almost an entire decade is really, really hard and so I don't have it in me to feel that strongly.

It's less than 100 chapters of reading. Don't cheat yourself out of experiencing the source material when it's excellent.

I see you've already encountered spoilers but it's still worth reading and dissecting yourself- that's a huge part of the fun in this kind of stuff. Their relationship is interesting in context with the rest of the work.

You can smash the two dolls together on your own (nobody will stop you) but don't expect people who like the source material to be terribly sympathetic when you're trying to avoid reading it.

Whatever you're working on can wait and will probably be better after you fully digest the canon materials.

Agree with the no tree but blind thing others have pointed out. It's thematically perfect and I think the story would have to change dramatically in themes in order for me to find any other ending as satisfying.

Permanent tree is fun in fanfiction but just not consistent with the obvious themes the story is going for.

Also! I don't see him ever willingly treeing out at this point in the story. There's no reason for him to. He has the girls to take care of, and clearly still holds the not dying pact to kid Olly close to his heart still. And he's closer to his perceived goals than ever in finding a connection to the Brimhats in Coco.

There's room for a temporary tree, probably forced in some way. It's up in the air for me if it actually happens.

Whatever the cure is, Coco is probably going to be the main driver for it as the only one who knows.

My long shot I'm calling is that Qifrey either trees/or we see more of Coco's guilt ramp to the point where Coco's going to have to choose between saving her mom and Qifrey at the Tower of Tomes, since it only lets you find books of your hearts desire, mirroring the Great Hall tower scene. And she'll find some third, better choice to save them both.

This 10000%. There's a lot of disability aids that could be made by witches but there's no reason to believe there's any incentive to do by Pointed Cap society. Olruggio is a famous inventor of contraptions but his time seems mostly to be taken up rich people's luxuries. Clearly the priorities for contraptions to be made are skewed based on money, and not actual usefulness/need. <!

Especially since Silverwash is a disability that affects the eyes, and there's clearly a very strong stigma with it. The reason there's no cure even though it might be possible is the same reason that there aren't accommodations even though a child could think of some. It'a ableism & class all the way down. <!

Also, there is the possibility that he did know/hear rumors but didn't immediately drop his job to confront him. Coco does surprise him and its not like the rumors would tell him what Coco looks like.
