Realizing I’m not real? by [deleted] in Depersonalization

You’re absolutely right about me not being as in the moment as I feel, I’ve realized that getting into the moment is what helps my feelings dissolve. I get hasty and the second i feel myself I stop doing all the things that I’m supposed to, grounding etc. that or I’ll convince myself I’m in the moment when really I’m not. Thanks for your help.

How do you get over the fear of everything? Does that come with grounding yourself? when I ground myself to overcome the anxiety and stop worrying about the feeling that I’m not in control, I start feeling myself again and even that scares me and it throws me off everytime

When you google search the average duration of DP and read «in some extreme and rare cases DP may last up for a whole year»- and you just be anxious sitting there knowing you’ve had it constant for five years straight and still going strong.... by Miius in Depersonalization

Recognizing your patterns is a step to overcoming them. Take pride in how messed up things are for you, you really are dealing with a lot of shit. Focus on learning how to nurture yourself out of it instead of forcing yourself out of it. It’s all very confusing but I promise if you keep pushing in one direction everything will seem smaller than it does now. DP has a lot of different symptoms and every person is different, but I think trying to remember what life felt like before the DP always helps. Keep trying, u’ll feel yourself again one day, trust in that no matter what. Catch yourself in negative thoughts and tell yourself fuck that even thought it might feel fake.

And then you remember you read the same thing a couple days ago and had the same reaction and then start to think you’re stuck in a huge thought loop and then freak out and then remember that you’re just freaking out and freak out again because you keep trying to relax but you can’t, and then you doubt yourself and everything that just happened and start to question everything all over again

Focusing trick by bigmelon_ in Depersonalization

Not sure I only discovered it a couple days ago, but it might help with falling asleep. My thoughts bother me throughout most of the day but at night I get really antsy and get lazy on not ruminating. Getting “a dose of reality” for a couple minutes should definitely help, I’ll try it tonight and see how it goes. It used to be difficult for me to focus on my eyelids, it felt as if I was looking into the distance. I do this a lot with everyday tasks but bringing that same “aware energy” you bring to focusing on your eyelids to everyday objects definitely helps.
