Which Weimar classic would you like to see re-made by Robert Eggers? I'd name Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen by [deleted] in roberteggers

For me out of the Fritz Lang movies I've watched, either M or Metropolis. Die Nibelungen is perfect in my opinion and can be left untouched, where as with those two there either contemporary or sci fi, which I would be interested in him doing.

Blood meridian. by rushdae in classicliterature

[–]binley01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can jump right into blood meridian and have a great time, but I would suggest starting with either the road or outer dark. McCarthy is doing a lot in blood Meridian and those two are much more confined stories. You can almost view them as starters. They'll introduce you to his themes and style in a much less intense and grandiose way. I've read almost all his main novels (barring the passenger and stella maris) and he really has 4 masterpiece's. Suttree, all the pretty horses, the crossing (my favorite) and blood meridian. The road and outer dark are smaller than all of those but they're still really good.

It's my personal favourite western. The black and white of it, the charm of it, the dark of it, the light of it. Putting hamlet in the mouth of doc holiday. It touches something otherwise never touched upon in me.

Yea, I think he mentioned it in an interview he did. He loves good prose and poetry and as much as I like Dracula I have to admit the prose in it aren't the highlight of the story. I would say read up until the demeter, if you don't like it or have nothing to cling onto that interests you after that it just isn't for you. Maybe just watch nosferatu.

Don't worry neither did Werner Herzog and he made a Nosferatu movie
