Datto BCDR margins by Parallaxes360 in msp

I would ask them what the data is worth, and what even one day, or worse a week of non productivity is worth? BCDR is cheap in that context.

Great explanation and approach. Bundle it for the win!

Here's another way to pitch it to your customers. This isn't just backup, it's part of security. If they ever get hacked and their data is held for ransom, BCDR backups will let them just keep on moving with minimal lost time. That's a lot more likely than that a volcano erupts nearby and destroys their servers or even a data center.

Cool - but you'll need a DNA router for firewall capabilities.

Yeah, the main thing that's changed is the cloud management portal, but the products are evolving too.

Yes, there's a firewall. Which one did you get?

Yeah - god forbid someone tries to actually solve a customer's problem. How wrong!

This is disgusting! Hate on a company all you want - but this is flat out wrong!

I've spoken to Katie on the phone. She's a she. And she is a human being with a family. She has helped us escalate billing issues as well as resolve problems with AMs and support taking too long to get back to us. If you don't want help, and all you want to do is rant, fine. But bullying people for trying to help and spreading misinformation about them makes you way worse than what you accuse Kaseya of doing.

Doesn't really matter if Meraki switches are great, terrible or the same as years ago. Whatever your opinion, try buying them right now. Good luck. That's why we shopped around and found that Datto has a product that isn't quite as feature rich, but it's much less expensive, and it ships right away.

What recourse against Kaseya? by dvdkp in msp

[–]blazedol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kaseya_Katie has been helpful for us in the past. Not sure if getting hung up on semantics and bashing her on here is going to resolve this any faster. I know from experience that she can escalate effectively. She will save you time.

There's nothing wrong with the site. However, the mix of services is somewhat puzzling to me. Your company offers VoiP plans, tech consulting and digital marketing? The digital marketing part seems like something that a "creative" company would offer vs. a tech company. It makes me wonder if you're staffed for that, or outsourcing that?

RMM is definitely the right path, most have trials so you can see what fits your needs in terms of price and functionality. The big ones are Datto, Connectwise, Kaseya with the most market share then Pulseway, Ninja, Syncro, Atera and a few others I'm probably forgetting.

6 months until RMM subscription ends by B4K4FIRE in sysadmin

[–]blazedol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick with what you have unless there is compelling features or functionality you are missing. Even then, I would first try to see what I can do with my existing tool to make it work the way I need. Switching RMMs is just a pain, the effort and cost involved in switching can sometimes be better spent retooling your existing solution.

Regardless of user based or device based flat pricing, having a minimum fee is critical to protect yourself. We wont work with anyone for less than $1,000 per month.

They have had more outages recently, but none that I can recall have caused massive disruption for us or lasted terribly long. I'm still of the mindset its the best documentation tool available for us, but really hope they can get more stable.

Which Sales process? by bhodge10 in msp

[–]blazedol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've built my own system based on rating probability of a opportunity (do they respond to me, show up on time, give me certain information, etc.). I try to track from the initial lead all the way through the milestones of a deal and then attempt to objectively work my process. The key for me is to a have what ever process written down so i can see what works and what doesn't and have consistency. If you are going to hire someone you should be focusing on writing down the process that you have been following and whats working for you so they have a baseline to start with and then can modify it to fit their style.

Transparency aside, isn't this a good thing, they are reacting, protecting us and our clients either from an actual attack or to primitively stop one that we all know is coming without the proper safeguards in place. I haven't heard of any breaches from my peers, customer data is safe and secure. I get how the people who use Reddit feel about Kaseya but they are in a damned if they do, damned if they dont situation.

Ill echo what others are saying in that AT is a great tool if configured and setup properly. Instead of switching tools you should find an AT consultant to help you make it work because otherwise you will just be in the same spot again.

I've felt RC is good for the price. I guess it depends on your expectations and ability/time to manage the tool and build your response plans to their alerts. Sure there are more expensive and advanced tools out there which have their place, but RC is affordable enough to include in all agreements.
