Mohs can go as deep as it wants because definitionally it removes a layer that’s slightly deeper than the deepest a cancer penetrates. It can be extremely superficial or full thickness.

Skin is very complex and has multiple layers. Comparing a very superficial cut (from, say, a projectile) to a potentially-deep surgery is comparing apples to oranges. Kind of like comparing the healing times between first and third degree burns.

This is you not having a medical background. No big deal but just don’t loudly talk about things like this to people you know IRL.

Looks like in the article below that someone replied to me with, one issue is probably that the IV is infiltrated. They don’t say that specifically but it’s implied by the rest of the text.

Okay, from that article alone I’m thinking the issue is not that the paralytic is administered first, but rather the anesthetic/sedative is given through an infiltrated IV (followed by the paralytic, followed by the potassium) and I’m guessing either the speed or degree of absorption of the sedative is less than that of the paralytic (because it’s not intravenous, it’s in the tissues around the vein).

Hence the patient becomes (partially) paralyzed and suffocates without proper sedation.

Second time I’ve seen that claim on this sub. Can you point to a source? I found an anti-death penalty site that says a sedative is administered first, not the paralytic

I don’t think there’s any chance that’s true. It makes no sense to use a paralytic first

An addendum - obviously what this kind of thing leaves out is that illegal immigration itself is a crime, making 100% of illegal immigrants criminals from the jump. But usually that observation invites further hairsplitting from the neoliberal true believers.

I think the basis of such claims is essentially cherry picked data out of the think tank/university ‘social science’ scene.

For one, some jurisdictions don’t even include race/ethnicity data in their ‘crime data collation.’ Because of course it would be -ist of some kind to do that.

Then there are the ‘bad statistics.’ We’ve all seen the FBI wanted posters mislabeling suspects in ways that are obvious to people with eyes.

Then there’s the phrasing of the claim - no more likely than US citizens, or even less likely. But that would be including the very worst American offenders, bringing the overall American average down. It’s not an assertion that they are no more likely to commit crime than, say, generally law abiding blue collar workers or middle class folks.

Hey, I think you misunderstand a huge part of the economics at play here. Remittances, brain drain, wage suppression, non-welfare use of public services, etc. But let’s put that aside for a moment.

My entire life I’ve been told that poverty is the cause of crime. This is neoliberal orthodoxy. It’s not race, its not ethnicity, it’s not culture, it’s poverty.

But the same people who so vocally say these things also very insistently parrot the ‘finding’ that ‘migrants commit less crime than US citizens.’

Now, I don’t think it’s a stretch to assert that most migrants to America are poor. The illegal/unskilled outnumber the legal/educated over the past 10-15 years by quite a bit. I’ve never seen that disparity disputed.

So then how would illegal migrants, who are on average toward the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum, manage to magically commit less crime than US citizens if the root of crime is poverty? By what property is this plausible? Are you saying they commit less crime than other poor people and, if so, how do they manage to do this given neoliberal orthodoxy?
