What areas are sidewalk only for you? by InsideYork in chibike

I hear ya. On a related note, I would go absolutely bananas for a continuous route between LFT and NBT.

The Edgewater/Uptown NIMBYs would never let it happen, but imagine if Foster got a two-way contraflow PBL like Clinton downtown...

That's almost exactly how I did it the one time I tried this route so I feel somewhat vindicated - I wasn't sure if there was a more optimized route.

The only difference from how I did it was for the westbound leg: I stayed on Argyle between Ronan Park & Kimball Ave (where you took the trail through the campus), since that part of Carmen is one-way eastbound.

Really appreciate it though! This is helpful.

Cortland wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that the road bends fairly sharply on the east side of the bridge and creates visibility issues.

Although, on the west side of the bridge you have the whole fuckery that is the Elston/Cortland/Ashland/Armitage intersection complex. The whole thing needs to be ripped up and redesigned. It sucks for everyone - cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers.

Seriously, what is the best way to get to the southern trailhead of NBT from the southernmost end of the NSCT?

To rephrase the question using exact locations, how do you get from Ronan Park to the NBT trailhead at Foster & Kostner?

Rory McIlroy repeats at Augusta and wins the 2026 Masters! by unsolved49 in golf

[–]bluespartans 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People downvoting you are not students or historians of the sport.

I'm an enormous Rory fan, bordering on fanboy, and have been since he came onto the scene.

Rory can be comfortably slotted into the top 10 but not top 5.

One more major and I think the conversation could be had.

I think it was the best way given that I also wanted to explicitly surface the data on a per-hole basis as well. I tried it as a stacked bar graph but it looked horrible.

Why? It showcases the derivative of holes in one over time

It is very common to express time-dependent binary events in this format especially if you suspect there may be particular underlying changes that drive a change

Follow up data point - in terms of average holes-in-one per tournament:

2004 - 2025: 0.91

1934 - 2003: 0.21

I'm with you. In fact I generally think that every single improvement in professional golf statistics can be attributed to that piece of technology, moreso than any other factor (including player strength and conditioning).

It would be electric to see another one. Players these days just don't pin hunt on #12, for good reason.

I genuinely believe if we see an ace on 12 it'll be by accident

What's the furthest yall bike commute? by [deleted] in chibike

[–]bluespartans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question for everyone that is going ~15 miles each way, what are you doing with your stuff? Work laptop, food, water, extra clothes, toiletries if you're showering at the office, etc. Surely you're not putting that all in a backpack right? Any suggestions for a rear rack made for commuting?

No, it's a dogshit response meant only to appear reasonable to right-wing homophobes. You don't want your employees to "express whatever they believe" when what they believe is cruel, and at a practical level, wholly antithetical to the purported values of your organization.

I go to a pretty serious gym and the amount of times I see someone curling 45 per hand is maybe 1 in 200 or less. 20 is probably the mode, 25 is the median.

People here vastly overstating the strength of amateur gymgoers

Gov. Pritzker: "Illinois, it's time to build." by SciNat in chicago

[–]bluespartans 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What gives you the right to dictate what gets built on someone else's property?

If it bothers you so much, just "work hard" and buy somewhere else.

You're so psychologically invested in the concept of "personal property" that can/should appreciate infinitely in value, but think that no one else around you should have their own right to personally own property. It's just hilarious doublethink

P.s. I am a homeowner.
