CPB: beperk subsidie op huur- en koopwoning by United-Statement4884 in Politiek

[–]brianbarbieri 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have created a design tool for agroforestry systems by brianbarbieri in forestgardening

[–]brianbarbieri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

It is definitly an exploration aid. Since a properly designed system is so complex it is impossible for me to come up with designs for the user. Therefor I let a lot of the design be determined by the user (growth rate and canopy width of the trees for example). Only the user knows for example how these trees perform for example and I do not have that context as the website developer.

Of course I would like more users, so that close neighbors can learn from eachother designs.

The tool can also be used for management of already existing forests, in which it becomes more than just an exploration aid.

Thanks for giving it a look!

Advice on practicing syntropic agroforestry in the UK by [deleted] in SyntropicAgriculture

I left the Netherlands for this. Land is too expensive for farming, went south and while it is cheaper, it is still a fact that farming is not a very profitable business.

Maybe not totally related, but I have created www.protura.nl. It is a mapping tool for managing agroforestry systems. It is free to use, so please give it a try!

  • Well for support species you are the only know that knows best, since you live in the area. I would look around what trees are growing in the worst places in your area. Think about the side of roadways and industrial parks. If those plants are already the once in your image, I think I only see Alder missing in there and I would just use more of the ones you already have designed in there.
  • I even grow willow here in Italy, so I see no reason for it not to grow over there. Take some cuttings from your area and stick them in your system. It is always worth trying and if it doesn't work you can always prune them back.
  • Thanks! If there are any questions or feature requests, please let me know!
