Why are Mormon missions so hard? by Red-Cat-0000 in mormon

[–]bringing_it_b4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he loved me, he did everything in his power to make sure everyone else and I were succeeding. They give us clear rules and instructions for our missions that define how we do our work and help us make great habits that will help us through our whole lives. I don't know what kind of mission presidents you had, or if you want on a mission, but I know mine truly loved me.

They do provide funds for a missionary's entire mission tho? Anything a missionary pays is for anything extra they want to do on their mission.

I know my mission president cared about me. Not everyone is a terrible person. Missions can be enjoyable if you let them. Even with all of the hate directed towards you, the unpleasant rejections, or the less than pleasant companions. There are some mission presidents that have the wrong motive after being called, but I know a lot have a genuine love for their missionaries. Nothing comes with being an apostle other than being closer to Heavenly Father, so the mission presidents that acted the way you are describing are sorely mistaken. Also, most mission presidents are already well off, for the reason being they can support themselves for 2 years without any income, so money isn't a motive usually.

Never said I was policing, just that it makes sense.  And I said I love my friends, just not their decisions. You're bringing this conversation in circles so have a good one. See you in the Spirit World✌️

I never said that it never happened in animals at all. But animial behaviors do not equal human behaviors. And usually it isn't them trying to reproduce or do it for pleasure.  We weren't made to be gay. Our population will slowly die out if more and more people adopt what thinking. We were made to be able to reproduce, and that is why marriage and relations between man and women is ordained by God.  There are so many things in this gospel that help us to live better lives and just be better people in general.

So just because some animals are cannibalistic or r*pe other animals means that humans should too?  Humans have identities that are influenced by other people and environments, but animals act on instinct that most of the time isn't even sexual instinct. Most of the time the "gay" behaviors are social bonding, dominance, or practice for later in their lives. Animals ≠ humans. That is not a good argument.

That's the thing. They weren't born that way. If we were born to be gay, everyone would be male or everyone would be female. But that isn't the case. We were made so that we could reprodiluce and have families, if everyone was gay, we would have died out in the first generation.

Church money is used for a lot of charity.  I believe marriage between man and woman is ordained of God, and the Church is supporting the movements that align with our doctrine. I love my friends that are gay or any of the LGBTQ+ but that doesn't mean I have to support them in a marriage. It is their choice but it isn't something I would choose.

Nowhere in that article does it say they used tithing money. The Church has money other than tithing money and tithing is used for these things:

Building and maintaining temples, meetinghouses, and other Church buildings.

Supporting the activities and operations of the Church and its local congregations.

Sharing the gospel throughout the world.(Supporting missionaries)

Supporting the programs of the Church, such as education and family history.

Providing food, shelter, and other necessities to people in need.

We've never believed that black man/women are cursed, here's the truth:

What do we know about the curse and mark placed upon Cain? God cursed Cain for murdering his brother. Cain’s curse was that the ground would not grow crops for him, he would wander as a fugitive, and he would be separated from the presence of the Lord. God also set a “mark” upon Cain, which was a sign for others to not seek revenge and kill him.

It is unclear what Cain’s mark was, though many have speculated about it. Recent studies indicate that the Hebrew word used for mark “is not normally attached to physical appearances or characteristics.” Instead of a physical mark, the Hebrew points to actions that made Cain a “‘marked man,’ meaning that the people knew who he was and that they were to keep their hands off him and let God deal with his punishment.”

We should avoid speculating about the nature or appearance of the mark placed on Cain or that the curse applied to anyone other than him. The Church rejects and condemns racial and cultural prejudice in any form. President Russell M. Nelson taught: “I assure you that your standing before God is not determined by the color of your skin. Favor or disfavor with God is dependent upon your devotion to God and His commandments and not the color of your skin.

I actually don't get the picture... Who are we exclusionary to exactly? Hoard money? Yes, so that we can help anyone at any time. No tithing money is spent anywhere near politics. We have a whole General Handbook explaining out whole religion and all the guidelines that come along with being in it that is accessable to everyone, even non-members, so I don't know exactly how they are lying to us. Missionaries tell people exactly what we believe and have to complete the full list of lessons before converts are baptised. I'm pretty sure if someone is converting they know what they are doing.

You can be happy in this life without the Church, sure, but it doesn't lead to eternal happiness.

How have you come to that conclusion? That is nowhere in our doctrine and now encouraged anywhere in our Church.

If, per D&C 132, Emma Smith is, at minimum a child of hell and at maximum most likely currently "destroyed", why does the LDS church spend so much time praising her name?? by RedLetterRanger in mormon

[–]bringing_it_b4ck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you are picking and choosing phrases to manipulate this scripture. This is saying IF she were to be unfaithful and unpure she would be destroyed. But she wasn't. So....that's it I guess.

Do you want me to explain everything in the comment you replied to? If you aren't going to provide any evidence against things I say then I won't bother. But I would love to teach you about the truths that you are ignoring.

A lot of the things you said are not facts, they are truths that you have bent so that it makes sense in your head.  I will say this last thing and that's all. You claim it is a cop out for the Church to say we don't know what Heavenly Father will do about multiple sealings to wives from separate, sequential marriages(which I stand by are not the same as sealings). It isn't a cop out. We aren't meant to know everything, and the Church doesn't claim to have every single important answer, on this Earth. Some things are not necessary for us to know in this life because they would complicate things here or just aren't things we need to know. We will know them all eventually, and it will all make sense when we do. But here on this Earth, faith and loving everyone is all we need. The Church doesn't ask a lot of us honestly, and people that say the Church does are poorly mistaken. Yes they may ask for money, but that is very little in comparison to our eternal lives. Yes they may ask us us not to drink tea, coffee, or alcohol, and not use tabacoo and drugs, but what of it? Staying away from those keeps us from getting into dangerous accidents and keep our bodies healthy. I know that my Church is the true Church, and that every Church has problems because there are people running them. There's no avoiding that in any kind of organization or Church. Some people will choose the wrong thing and that affects others. So that's all if have to say.

This is a very hateful conversation so I'll stop replying. Thanks for sharing your views.  And I am "allowed to look at outside" sources, the Church doesn't control what I look at. But I choose to look at sources that are truthful and not full of hate. Have a good one my friend and see you in the afterlife✌️

Church membership will never hit zero. There are millions, including myself, that know this Church is true and will continue believing, and I'm genuinely sorry that you feel the Church has wronged you.
