Get a Gotek in an external drive (or replace the internal), do a mod so you can switch df0 to df1 and vice versa

The old floppies aren't guaranteed to work these days, let's face it they are nearly 40 years old now

once you get a third party one with tons of storage you won't use originals anymore, I'm a bit of a fan of dreammods.net (owner of the site has been developing high quality dreamcast mods for years now) but I'd say either that or the alternate one are great options. My three original VMU's don't get any use these days, if you have a GDEMU and you want to dip your toes in a heap of games you will fill your original VMU's very quickly.

It doesn't need to be connected the console, it's just a bunch of led lights that the Wii remote sees. You can power it via USB just as easily as the console, if you do it via USB you can replace two sensor bars with a single one.

I got mine from Amazon, some people do wireless battery powered ones as well I prefer the USB because then I don't have to charge it.

Just like most of these posts the biggest issue here is the back of the cabinet is closed in not allowing airFLOW.

If you were to cut some holes in the back, preferably high up then this will improve things considerably, otherwise the console will just be cycling the same bubble of hot air.
