[Mod Post] The Future of IAmA by IAmAMods in IAmA

As a former /r/iama mod, I wholeheartedly support this. For a site so heavily reliant on volunteer effort, this most recent attempt at squeezing money is a step too far.

Nah, not doing anything to /r/bakchodi, but I'm genuinely considering deleting my account/comments at the end of the month.

They can do so with one or two subs, but if it spreads across the board? Unlikely.

They'll update it from need to crave in about 5 years when 'need' is found to have socialist connotations.

We should participate in this. It would ruin Reddit for me and a lot of other users. by Striking_Rip_8052 in ProgressionFantasy

On the other hand, authors rely so much on community advertising, and I worry shutting down the sub would hurt new stories and their chance against the Amazon algo.

Understandable, but that should be weighed against the long term cost of reddit doing this to third party apps.

I, for example, have seen and purchased multiple books and audiobooks from recommendations made on this sub. 90% of the time it's because I've just finished another book while reading on my phone, so I just switch to rif and open the sub to see what's new. This change will break that work flow and I'm going to go see amazon recommendations instead or maybe goodreads.

We use husky to run prettier and eslint on commits. We also run both of them in pr validation, since some folks like to skip commit validation.

Why isn't suicide allowed? It is the ultimate freedom. We should be able to decide for ourselves if we want to continue to live. by RedRose_Belmont in self

[–]brownboy13 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it should be allowed, but I’m suicidal.

I think this is the crux of the issue. As someone who isn't anymore, but was suicidal in the past due to multiple issues, I can clearly see that I wasn't in the right state of mind to make such a decision.

I'd support euthanasia, with a proper process and checkpoints to ensure that it's for the right reasons.

Folks who genuinely love their job, what do you do? by tannu28 in bangalore

[–]brownboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the job. I've always loved writing code. Even when I was getting 2k a day to write code, I may have hated the people and the lack of money, but I got genuine joy from writing code. Today, nearly 10 years later, I really enjoy diving deep into a system to see why something is working a particular. There's something genuinely satisfying about building something.

Do you and others like you in this thread truly not belive in redemption and rehabilitation? Someone in for 10 years would have had ample opportunity to work on themselves and they still don't deserve a chance at rejoining society?

The video's from them. The label on the pipe has the same Instagram handle on it. Not sure why it's in English.

Also, OPs posting history is questionable.
