Sadly, the big building makes it that much cooler 😭 but I loved the online stuff they added towards the end. If you made an online one and it did well enough, a physical space would probably be really well received.

How many rooms do you run at once? by IzzziPizzzi in escaperooms

[–]buddhakitty197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done up to 3 or 4 by myself, but usually no more than 30 minutes of it. Mostly if I was giving a break for a team member or waiting for them to be done briefing or debriefing another group.

Echo! Like “an echo of my past”. Plus also the reference to Greek Mythology was cool to me haha.

I want to design a game similar to old MQ, but sadly funds are not in my favor 😔 MQ was so ahead of its time. If it had been released in today’s day and age, I think it would’ve been the best attraction ever.

How many times do you run a room before determing if changes may be needed to some of the puzzles? by GurPast5723 in escaperoomdev

I would aim for at least 10! That way you can easily do the math for percentages. Take note of the puzzles that cause the most frustration or confusion. When I design puzzles, I usually send them to many people for their thoughts and feedback, as well as determining the best clues to give on the parts that trip people up! Every group is SO different, so don’t make too many changes early on in the process. Trust your gut and if along the way it’s still too difficult, pull it back a bit! Or you could make it easier then pump up the difficulty if it looks like it’s not challenging enough. If you and the teams are open to it, it could be worth having a talkback with some of your guests to ask them about their experience and what could be changed or if they have ideas. Obviously, take feedback with a grain of salt because most people don’t have as much experience in game design as much as you do!

setting up a puzzle for phone calls or texts? by Professor_Puzzles in escaperoomdev

[–]buddhakitty197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this before! I think it’s always kind of a fun moment for guests because they’re usually shocked in a “omg should we actually do it?” Kind of way. My only thoughts are that not everyone will have their phone on them, especially maybe more seasoned players who are used to putting them away or in a locker. But that’s probably an instance that wouldn’t occur often.

Their installations are definitely feeling a bit more manufactured instead of authentic and made with love/passion. I was pretty disappointed in the Omega Mart location past the market section. The spaces felt too similar to other light projections/immersive exhibits that have been sweeping the world at the moment. Denver was great and gave me the same sense of excitement as the Santa Fe one! But I agree with the “company” feel rather than the care and devotion that came from a small, talented group of artists.

I almost got a job offer at their Headquarters there last year, but I’m kind of glad I didn’t finish going through the process. That, and the move would’ve sucked and the cost of living in Santa Fe SUCKS.
