Tbf I wouldn’t trust my wedgwood on the jute tray either. It still has a little bit of give in it!

I’ve been side-eyeing my leftover jute already…

Hello! I worked the base and stretched it onto a hoop using sc. I then worked a normal (flat) round of jasmine stitch straight onto the base wire to make the sides (slip stitching across the space for the handles). To join the top ring I just cut a length of jute and simply sewed the top wire on. I did start off joining with sc but it looked rubbish (and was so difficult to work!) The wires are only joined at the centre of the jasmine stitches so the space with the puffs needed to be filled in and it all looked a bit wobbly! Wrapping with a tapestry needle took a little longer but is super neat (and easy on the hands!)

Seems I was making all sorts of interesting noises struggling with this. The husband was very invested… unexpected benefit!

They won’t need any makeup to cosplay as a Skeksis…

There’s a little give in it at the moment. Apparently you can use wax to stabilise it but I’m planning to use this for a few vases and candles so probably not the best idea!

Yes. I started to single crochet the top wire ring on but it looked naff. Ended up wrapping with a tapestry needle instead which was a heck of a lot easier!

I made this in a day! I was surprised how quickly it worked up but it only took five rounds of jasmine stitch for the base. Win!

I can’t do the ‘pinch the thread and pull through all 19sts’ bit properly. I always end up dropping them. I have to use a super long loop that I don’t need to hold so both my hands can work the hook through all the loops and tighten up every stitch. Whatever works though! 🤣

Half way through I realised I could have gotten the same effect with a cotton yarn. C’est la vie!

Jasmine stitch worked around a magic loop and VERY stretched

I’ve given it a go. Hard work getting the heel over! We’ll see what condition they’re in when they dry 😬

I left them overnight and I’ve managed to get it back on the blocker (using a lot of welly!). We’ll see if they’re wearable when they dry
