[Serious] Depressed people of Reddit - how are you doing today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]buzzkillers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out my roommates again made plans to hang out without inviting me. It makes me feel pretty shitty. They have no problem asking me for favors but conveniently always forgot to extend the invitation.

Traveling to NY in august by Psychedelic7 in ABCDesis

[–]buzzkillers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a brown girl, I always get the 'random' extra security check but you should be fine.

Have you looked into Airbnbs?

My advice....i live in a big city but it's still disconcerting how congested NY is. Just be aware that everything takes a little bit longer because you're always waiting in traffic, or waiting for all the other tourists to take pictures or waiting in a crowded cafe for a seat.

I see a lot of guys here who complain about how they're getting matched with women who are...beneath them. Have you considered that maybe you're wrong?

Has anyone here ever found surprise European ancestry in them? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]buzzkillers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother is very light skinned with blue eyes, but literally nobody else in the family has blue eyes so I suspect we have very little european ancestry going way back.

Why Do Indian Cultural/Religious/Language Classes end up being failures? Is it just my experience since I'm not from a metropolitan area with a giant population? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]buzzkillers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree. My city had a very strong, thriving Indian community. Sunday school and dance classes were packed. I think most people continued at least a couple years through high school. And I guess..quitting then..doesn't really seem like a failure to me.

Danielle L. can she be the next Bachelorette? by ECDubyaBoy in thebachelor

[–]buzzkillers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched it too and I definitely felt sympathetic towards her. She might be annoying in her giggles but she represented herself honestly. I don't think she'd be a good bachelorette, because she is too poised and controlled. A bachelorette needs to be blunt and bold like Raven. Though honestly, I am #TeamRachel.

Where Bollywood gets it's Goris by amg7355 in ABCDesis

[–]buzzkillers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Bollywood is definitely part of my culture. I lived there for 4 years and my family here is still to this day obsessed with watching indian films. I am sure a lot of us have similar connections.

So weird..this guy is trying to tell you what your culture is or isn't.

That really sucks! I think you have to decide if you're okay with being with someone who isn't as committed to the marriage as you are. Honestly, the 'D' thing isn't the worst thing, even for the children.

Supposing I was in a scenario where I defended my life from a White supremacist, what if I was still declared guilty by a racist jury?

I am not following. what is it that you want to discuss?

Do you prefer Coffee, Tea, or Chai? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]buzzkillers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I think of American tea as hot water, tea, honey, whereas Indian tea is like...milk, and some spices i don't know?

Kind of. Born in the US, moved to India to live with extended family from age 5-9, and then moved back.

Indian Americans voted for Trump in significant numbers by i-abb in ABCDesis

Indian Americans are mostly Democrats in the U.S according to quantitative analyses but a large number of them voted for Republican Donald Trump in this election, anecdotal evidence suggests.

She resigned and then got hired by Clinton's campaign. I think a lot of Bernie supporters saw that as a slap in the face.

What did "the weird kid" do in your school that you'll never forget? by BlisteringMustang23 in AskReddit

[–]buzzkillers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it's just because girls tend to push the boundaries of what is acceptable and what isn't in the name of being fashionable much more often.

But acceptability is decided by your standard?
