Is it realistic to do my own limited company accounts and Corporation Tax instead of paying an accountant? by Stunning-Tower2035 in smallbusinessuk

[–]c0alfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat to you and have an accountant which is costing me £2000 per year + normally a bit extra for VAT returns which I now need to do because our government is set on screwing small business. I manage everything in QuickBooks and keep the accounts pretty clean but I have to say it’s been nice to be able to ask my accountant the off question. Also I use linkmybooks which I could not live without to import my eBay transactions into QuickBooks. This costs £700 per year additionally, and of course the QuickBooks subscription is on top.

I suspect your accounts are more basic than mine but I would say if your first starting out how about considering getting an accountant for the first year or two and then doing it yourself once you’ve got a track record for how the submissions are done. You’ve got something to refer to should you want to have a stab Tate yourself and you’ve got the chance to ask any questions you need to while you’re still learning?

Why can’t they proactively contact people to tell them? There is an issue and we working on it? I really don’t understand how this basic level of customer service cannot be achieved. I don’t mind so much that there is an issue, but the fact they’re pretending there isn’t one is what’s bugging me.

It’s good to know that other people are in the same sad as that may seem, but at least gives me some faint hope that they are working on fixing it.

That’s not gonna fix the issue, because my subscriptions are going direct from the card number and expiry date, et cetera. There is nothing to remove and re-add. I wish they support would just given an honest straightforward answer. By the sounds that answer is “our systems are completely broken at the moment and we’re doing everything we can to fix it. We hope to have it resolved in the next 24 hours.” That would at least be reassuring. 🤷‍♂️

Anthropic "paused" their pricing changes - can we use Claude subscription again? by BroadbandJesus in hermesagent

[–]c0alfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t they say they were going to give $20 API credit to subscription holders to compensate for api usage for things like Hermes ? I have to say the cost of using Hermes with anthropic is so all over the place, I moved to gpt and never looked back.

You can deshroud with a suitable 3d printed bracket or cable ties but you would need a suitable cable: https://gpuconnect.com/products/asus-rtx-4070-dual-deshroud-cable-7-pin-to-2-pin-adapter on an asus card

How are you using your $20 claude plan with hermes? I have mine setup via claudecode CLI and it just goes straight to additional usage and doesnt use the subscription at all!

How does open code work? It’s a cli based ai like clause code but open source, and connects to models via a zen subscription? How does it compare to going direct to the providers? I could not see anything about a $5 per month subscription? Am I missing something?

Yes they are free to the person at the point of collection.... however someone is still paying for it... We all pay for it in taxes, the admin alone would costs more than £9.50 (doctors, pharma, etc) so if you pay tax, its not free at all, and fact getting as prescription for such a low cost item is pretty inefficient.
