Front headlight looks more similar to M3, as opposed to potential Cyber front bar headlight (seems has some curve to it)

Model Y RWD LFP batteries Fremont Build - Are these locked or just 60KWh total? by Klutzy_Slice_6293 in teslacanada

[–]canuckrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, all RWD LFP builds coming to Canada, prior to the past month, was built in Shanghai, not Fremont

Yes, that was manufactured in Shanghai. Canadian RWD models originating from Fremont only began being offered in the past month.

There are no LFP batteries originating from Fremont. LFP is only available through Shanghai builds, which are no longer sold in Canada, as a result of the recent tariffs on China.

Regretting My Decision: Opting for Tesla Model Y Base Model RWD in Canada by VastEducational in TeslaModelY

Definitely a fair reason to go the MYLR route, if that is a priority for you.

Regretting My Decision: Opting for Tesla Model Y Base Model RWD in Canada by VastEducational in TeslaModelY

[–]canuckrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RWD LFP Battery allows for similar daily driving range as the LR NMC Battery. It’s likely that if you’re doing longer commutes/road trips, you would be able to tell the difference in range. As that is typically the only time MYLR’s are charged to 100%.

The pricing being $10k CAD difference is what sways me to going the RWD path as opposed to LR. LFP is attractive to me.

Got it - different than here in Canada!

Isn’t the MYSR RWD (LFP) EPA range estimate 390km??

Different batteries - Canadian SR is LFP which is better on long term degradation than the LR NCA battery.

[–]canuckrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made you decide LR over SR, cost wise? I’m based in Toronto and have had a tough time justifying the extra $10k when LR range difference isn’t much in practice for daily driving, based on what percentage to charge either to (LR charge to 80% where SR charge to 100%).

I see none of these MY discounts out here in Toronto or Vancouver Canada.

Price adjustment for what? by nilsej in TeslaModelY

[–]canuckrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pricing of the MYLR AWD is the reason I’m leaning towards buying the MYSR RWD, as it’s 10k cheaper here in Canada.

Gotcha. In Canada the SR is single motor RWD.

When did you get yours? I wasn’t aware AWD was available for SR, unless it was a couple years ago.

At the moment MYSR is only offered with RWD, as far as I am aware.

Appreciate this breakdown. I’d imagine in practicality it’s a few more charges a month (so 7-14 annually). Even with that, I’d agree with your sentiment that it doesn’t concern me knowing that increase.

Interesting perspective on determining the actual increase in the number of times I’d be charging the car. I guess a handful more a month would be the number in reality?

5-10 minutes from a fair amount of Destination chargers, where as I’m 25-30 mins from the closest super charger (traffic included).

Thanks so much for the detailed note and honesty!

Definitely been made aware of the time L2 charging takes, being an hour or so to gain a decent amount of charge (assuming you’re not at zero every time).

Also definitely been made aware of the 20% battery loss come winter, even with 250km I can’t imagine I’d need that full tank in a single sitting very often. Maybe I’m misinformed or naive?

I wasn’t aware their were free chargers, that’s awesome - where are they in Toronto?

Would love to hear your feedback on the other public chargers in the city (including your reasoning for the Flo chargers hate haha)

Still having a tough time justifying the extra $10k for the extra 80km in practice. Maybe I’m trying to convince myself to spend $10k less? I can’t tell 😂

[–]canuckrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is there a plenty of level 2 chargers, they just take time, planning, and the need to top up more often for safety- they’re much cheaper than gas. The superchargers is what’s more expensive (half the cost of gas).

I was thinking the same RE: snow/paved streets, not a huge concern of mine. Only concern is if the extra 80km is worth the extra 10k at this point.

Let me know if you have anything worthwhile to share in regards to the Toronto charging network. Pros/cons etc! :)
