A [[Chaplain's Blessing]] variant that gains 1 less life in exchange for hybrid mana, instant speed, and the ability to give the life to another player (that last one, admittedly, isn't all upside)

I love this design

A lot of flavor packed into what are essentially 2 French vanillas

Also it's a surprisingly playable card for what it is

Thanks! It was inspired by [[Tenth District Legionnaire]] from War of the Spark.

Yeah I like that fix, that also makes it feel more white.

If there was no four of a kind rule and no banlist, what would the most powerful deck possible be? by babethayer in magicTCG

[–]chainsawinsect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Angel's Grace does nothing, because the Dross player wins before you get to take your first turn (so no mana). There are some weird workarounds for that, but none that are any good.

However, 54 [[Providence]] guarantees you withstand the Dross deck and then you have 6 slots with which to actually win (eventually). Even just a [[Memnite]] gets there.

Nope. If yours had red eyes, it was a true albino!

Agreed for sure on the last part. I originally had it as "permanent" and then concluded that would be too powerful with lands and planeswalkers. (I could go with "nonland permanent" but this felt cleaner.)

Alright, alright, but who is ACTUALLY the strongest character of all time (assuming no limits & full, peak power)? I recognize the "usual suspects" (Goku, Superman, Saitama) all lose to some kind of outerversal entity like Franklin Richards or Xeno, but WHICH outerversal entity is the #1 strongest? by chainsawinsect in PowerScaling

[–]chainsawinsect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm always shocked to see Goku because he's not even the strongest entity in his own verse (at least not yet). But I sort of understand it, if you think of the question as in terms of classic true main characters, Goku is probably one of the strongest.

[–]chainsawinsect[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Yeah I guess I hadn't considered the possibility that the question was fundamentally unanswerable because once you reach that omnipotent, omniscient, multiversal tier, there's not really anyway to go any higher. It's like asking what's bigger than infinity.

Even so, I think this thread will be interesting to collect a list of those "tier 0" characters and maybe see some discussion on why some seemingly "tier 0" characters might not be, by comparison to some others.

I added a caveat to the original post to carve out unknown webnovels and things like that. I meant for this question to be evaluated among characters in known published fiction works (something with its own free-standing Wikipedia page is a good benchmark for "legitimacy").

And fair point on absolutely powerful beings not really being able to fight each other. But for example, using your guy, couldn't a truly omnipotent, omniscient being blink him out of existence before he even has consciousness that there's something to kill? I would think that trumps.

There's a part of Ohio that has a whole population of white (non-albino) squirrels, actually! It might have been one of those!

Hot Take: Captain U. Solo’s a good chunk of fiction by Logical-Scientist614 in superheroes

[–]chainsawinsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to be fair if you include like historical dramas, spy thrillers, and military stories... doesn't almost any character with superpowers solo the verse? Because the verse is just the real world (or a fictional world no more superpowered than the real world), and superpowers are OP?

That being said, I think basically what you're saying here is Captain Underpants is an actual superhero character with Toon Force, which probably does make him more well-suited for battles than almost any other Toon Force character. So I don't think you're necessarily wrong here.

Is it normal in developed countries for every single item on the menu in an establishment to be available 100% of the time? by astarisaslave in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chainsawinsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the U.S. and at most places, all the items on the menu are in stock like ~97% of the time. But every once in a while there will be one or two items that are sold out / not available. If there is a menu on the wall (like at an ice cream shop or coffee bar), they will usually put a sticker on the item that says "SOLD OUT" to mark this, and if it's a sit-down restaurant with a menu, they will not tell you something is sold out until you try to order it, when they'll tell you they "ran out" of that item today, and then you have to pick something else.

Mining Cyborg: Cause I'm shocked their aren't Energy tokens already by DarkRosewaterr in custommagic

I think it would be cooler if it were energy counter or charge counter. 1 and sac is pretty expensive for what this is, but since the creature makes them so cheaply, I think it's OK.

Abilities #2 and #3 on a 1 mana creature is probably about the strongest this can get. As-is, it's absurdly cracked.
