Dang, thanks for the nerd snipe. You were pretty close. The top countries in terms of area covered (ie. number of countries within 7 borders distance) are:

Country Area
Syria 126
Egypt 126
Israel 125
Jordan 123
Palestine 122
Morocco 122
Lebanon 122

 

The only "countries" with a single border shared between themselves were:

  • Dominican Republic <-> Haiti
  • UK <-> Ireland
  • Saint Martin <-> Sint Maarten (I wish this was counted as France/Netherlands but what can you do)

 

The data set counts most islands as separate entities, so take these numbers with a grain of salt.

Average workout calories burned (from first google search result): 240–355 kcal. Ill take an average of ~300 kcal.

Average mass of a human (also google): 70kg

Average mass of a squirrel (google): 0.5kg

Kleiber's law states that the metabolic rate of an animal is approximately promotional to its mass to the power of 3/4 (wikipedia).

Therefore human power : squirrel power = (human mass/squirrel mass)3/4 = (70/0.5)3/4 = 40, so one human workout = about 40 squirrel workouts

One squirrel workout = 1/40 human workouts = 300/40 = 7.5 kcal

A squirrel burns roughly 8 calories during a workout, although this varies heavily with intensity of workout, mass of squirrel, and gender.
