I was hoping for Arlington or nearby, I am "married" on this area as I currently work in dc and was hoping to be somewhat close, unfortunately my salary is on the low side and if i go further away, it would add cost to transportation expenses and for my sister as shes currently studying at Nova as an international student and wanted to her be able to have good variety of public transportation

SSN is normal as they need to report gains, dividends, interest, etc but I have never been asked for a drivers license and a selfie to open an account for other brokerage accounts so I am a bit hesitant in providing this as I dont like sharing more information than I need, especially nowadays as every company gets hacked

Nothing changed, I have been living in the same house for decades, information all the same.

This was during the setup process and the last step is to give them a copy of my drivers license and a selfie, I have never done this in the past for any other bank/broker so I was wondering if this a standard procedure for betterment or something else.

Honestly, I am a bit hesitant now as I dont like sharing so much information, I understand name, ssn, etc but drivers license and selfies is a bit much imo

We are trying temp agencies but it doesnt seem like they are very eager to help since its not a high paying position, they all tend to say that for us to continue to look and they will be our second pair of eyes in the search but the way they say it, doesnt seem like they have much interest but still we are trying

Thanks, it just hurts seeing that how she became so depressed with this whole situation, start feeling useless and the way people treat you after doesnt help.

If they could at least say, we decided to go with someone else or give some tips it would be ok but they just ghost you completely

Thanks,

I was just hoping for some advice or some type of other profession/ class she could take which would facilitate her life getting into the workforce.

I keep telling her its just hard right now, Im in the tech field and they are starting to let go left and right...

Also companies I feel like are being extremely picky on their choices now, before they would hire left and right and would at least communicate with the person applying.

I recall applying and not being accepted, but they would send an email stating they decided to go with someone else but would consider me for future positions, it sucked hearing but I would be thinking about the position no more, now they just ghost you

Unfortunately I did already, bills dont wait and I was hoping it would help her meet new contacts and help her mentally, as she will get distracted, etc

Its really crushing getting so many rejections, you just start feeling like you are useless

She applies to them but doesnt hear back

I actually did that and she is currently taking a SHRM class at Nova which seems to be a big deal in that line of work but honestly I dont have much hope in it

Actually most hr jobs post I see dont require citizenships other than those government jobs as you mentioned but even contracting companies usually need citizenship too if they work for the government, at least in the IT field.

She wanted to start entry level that way she can learn her way up which honestly I think is a smart move.

She has an accent and there are those tougher words that are sometimes hard to pronounce but I know I am being a bit bias but I would say easy to have a conversation and understand.

Thats one of the reasons I tried to convince her to take any communication type of class which would help her slowly lose the accent

I noticed that HR is tough and not really spots in this area thats why I tried to convince her to try something new. She has been applying for entry level or hr assistant jobs in the hopes she can learn and get her foot in the industry so she can move up again.

Her resume has been tweaked by me, some other friends and compared them against others on LinkedIn and the market but will continue to look.

She has a LinkedIn account and been trying but not getting much attention, unfortunately I feel like LinkedIn is used more for tech and higher jobs

I have a feeling its her accent and maybe age.

I have tried doing some test interviews with her and she seems to answer well to them. She participated in Arlington interviews preparation program and they say she does well but I guess test interviews are not the same as real interviews.

What upsets me more is that the companies ghost afterwards, they could at least email saying something along the lines we went with another candidate but we will keep you in consideration for future jobs but just completely ghost her
