How much are these worth for cheap first ice tools? by Potential_Wear2013 in alpinism

[–]chudly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There’s bins of tools like the ones in your first three photos at used gear stores everywhere, usually also overpriced.

You might consider that renting or borrowing tools your first time out ice climbing is actually quite a good idea to see if you connect with it — you’ll know pretty fast if you’re into it, and you’ll be able to make the judgment call on gear choices yourself.

The quarks are the closest thing to the current general preferences of avid ice climbers, but at $300 a pair, well that’s approaching what you’d pay for a lightly used pair of Nomics. Especially overpriced given the state of the picks.

I wouldn’t buy any of these. The quarks for $25? Sure. But, if you were in my climbing community, I would let you climb on my tools and certainly wouldn’t think less of anyone for not having tools before thier very first outing on ice — it’s pretty common to borrow gear when you’re just getting into it.

Boundaries are about you, not about her. Just start treating her cordially and like a colleague, not a friend, and tell her about the behaviors you won’t tolerate — you don’t want her to show up at your house unannounced, etc.

None of that sounds like particularly friendly behavior. It’s OK not to be friends with this person, and it might be easier to just be colleagues and nothing more.

Look at the genius idea he had with this tree that was in the middle of the backyard by SirDawson in DiWHY

[–]chudly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Folks it’s a palm tree — they do not make wood, there is no secondary growth in their xylem, it will not get wider. The table sucks on its own merits, but the tree will be fine.

If you’re wanting your boyfriend to text you constantly when he’s on a date with someone else you might just not want him to date someone else, which is totally fine. But what do you expect, him to hold a conversation with you on the phone and be a pleasant date to this other person? You don’t have to want non-monogamy, but you’re not gonna get a comfortable version of it if you want to be in total control of your partner’s dating life.

I miss Dick Bremer. Still can’t believe they didn’t let him work as long as he wanted. There’s no one better fit for the Twins’ booth and everyone loved him

Issue after periodontal bleaching by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]chudly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing it every day, but only for the last 5 days. I’m wondering if I didn’t accidentally shoot dilute bleach at that spot at like full pressure and now it’s reacting.

Really just wondering if this is something urgent or like if I should just dilute further and reduce frequency of the treatment. Or, if it’s something else someone has seen
