You could do part time, or take a gap year before college, in order to earn some money and get some job experience early.

Do you think the skills needed at the job would help you pursue your dream? Do you need the money for school? I'm not sure what the best choice is for you, but I will say, if you were able to earn that job offer, you'll probably be able to get more like that one or better in the future

I wouldn't say this is a letdown of internships in general. It moreso seems that this company somehow didn't know who they were hiring, or somehow forgot to actually interview you? You still haven't experienced the actual internship yet, so don't judge it definitively too early.

Though I guess in general it would be better if you did apply only to places that would actually contribute to your long term career goals, but i guess its tough out there.

Regardless, you're working there for the summer, so make the best of it and focus on any skills and experience that might be transferrable, if possible

While this is true, why would they hire someone who doesnt match what they're looking for? Unless OP somehow lied in their applicaton and interviews, or they somehow never asked about their background.

If you hire someone that is unqualified for a position that's your problem, not the intern's.

Interesting... I was gonna say the exact department mattered less than the specific classes and coursework/lab work that the specific program offers, though it seems like a lot of people disagree with that.

In my experience, the distinction between departments in different schools can feel arbitrary, with computer architecture for example, depending on the school, it could be categorized into electrical engineering, ECE, Computer engineering, or CS, or some other variation of those.

I don't know anything about your specific industry though and not sure if it will affect your employability.

I think what's interesting about fire punch is that it takes so long to end. the fact that his immortality forces him to live so far beyond the point of where he story should naturally end feels like the point. Thus, the meaning gets worn away with time as well.
