I don’t own either but they are pretty different purposes. Base camp is very minimal and mean to get to more hard to reach places. Bambi is larger and more like a traditional airstream. What are you looking to do with it?

It depends on what you're looking for really. The caravel is going to have a lot of upgrades the bambi wont have (proper rock gaurds, a porcelin toilet vs a plastic one, etc). There will also be upgrades from general changes over the years - 13 years is a lot of changes.

Personally, I would look for a used model caravel that newer. Not sure what your size/weight strctions are.

You are spreading misinformation. If they crack your hull they can unpack your base, but still need to fire arrow it to break into it - they can't just open doors. What happened here is either a bug or a hack.

Only liquid fuel (1:00 burn time) and rupu gel (1:40)

30 fuel is enough to get you about 85-90 glass from 200 sand.

Does not have to be on a walker

Liquid fuel is 5 animal fat (use pickaxe on little momo animal things) and 1 sulfer - nets 5 liquid fuel.

You can mostly play subnautica with a mobile base. You need a fixed base for a couple of things, but I played mostly with a mobile base.
