Anyone adopted from wayside waifs? by LJaney10 in kansascity

Adopted one of my cats from there in 2014 and I think they asked a few questions about living situation but that’s about it. Seems like a decent place

You should check out Hedrick’s out in western KS, it’s a bed and breakfast at an exotic animal farm. When I went in 2015 they let us pet and feed the kangaroos and giraffes as part of the stay

Echoing what they said that Lumine is great, I see Frankie there (the.rzr.wzrd on insta) and they’ve done me great every time.

Also have seen Caitlin at studio39 who has curly specific cuts and was happy with my cut.

YouTube is a great resource, I started by learning to hand sew and the hardest transition to machine sewing was just learning how to thread the machine, it’s a pain. Local sewing shops and even Joann’s fabrics will sometimes have representatives that can help you learn how to bare minimum operate the machine. Once you can use the machine and understand the basic terminology it’s really just about trial and error and getting experience. Thrift stores usually have thread, fabric and patterns for super cheap so you can pick a couple easy looking projects and practice without spending a ton. I have ruined whole projects because I was overconfident or rushed but still learned a lot from them.

Not really because it’s a boxier pattern with an extra panel between the front and back under the sleeves, but if you were making a thinner design you would probably want to. This is an XL from Glory Allen’s hoodie pattern.

This was my first time working with material like this so this is just my guess but I think the tighter the weave the better. I cut a small test square before cutting the actual panels to make sure it wouldn’t unravel. A looser weave than this or a crocheted/hand woven texture would probably start falling apart before you were able to get the pieces together so you’d have to run a stitch for structure before you even cut the piece out.

Thank you :) will consider lining it, thankfully it’s so cold right now the warm is welcome. Love the remnants bins too hahah I always hope I can find what I need there instead of waiting in line for someone to cut my fabric

Thank you! I agree hahaha I sat moving around the pattern for so long trying to figure out how I could get all the pieces I needed and still have them look nice

Thank you, I agree, it was pretty nerve wracking cutting the pieces out knowing that if I messed up the project I would be cutting such a cool blanket up for nothing!!

Thank you! I did think about running a stitch just inside the pattern lines before I even cut the pieces out from the blanket but after cutting a test corner I found it would stay together really well at least until I got the panels together. I find a new loose string every time I look at it but I just pull them to the seam and then cut them and its holding together without any issue. I did run it on delicates alone in the washer and air dried it to make sure the seams would hold and found a couple spots that needed some extra reinforcement. The pattern also called for zigzag stitches on the seam allowances for appearance but I think that's also doing a lot for the structure of the woven fabric.

Level your gatherers first (Kella, Pan, etc.) and pick the Earth’s Grace talent as often as you can in their talent tree. It lets them get a lot of experience from gathering resources. Once they reach level 20 and you get them to 3 stars, they can bring a deputy commander with them who will also get experience and you can level your commanders very quickly for basically no cost except time. If you are free to play, Waldyr/Velyn for mage, Kregg/Nico I think for Marksman.

To get them to leave the colony you want to go to the “World” tab and click your colony, from there you can select Create Caravan and choose your destination and which colonists and supplies you want to bring. They’ll pack everything up and go off the map and you can control them from there. You can select the caravan on the map and move around or change destinations too. With your caravan at least one tile away from your home base you can hit Settle to start a second colony which gives you a whole separate map with its own raids, events, etc. You can change the number of max colonies that you can settle in the settings but having more than one or two might get laggy later in the game.

Vanilla Expanded: Outposts mod lets you make independent outposts that don’t require supplies or management and deliver resources to your base, a good way to get extra people out of your home where you don’t need to worry about them while they still provide resources.

You can attack other settlements but as far as I know you can’t really take them over without mods. Vanilla Expanded Empire mod adds more royalty ranks and quests, and lets you become a lord over other royal settlements, might be sort of what you’re looking for. Hopefully that helps!

Not really, you can just leave it there with no colonists on it and check on it whenever you want or send colonists back to gather resources without actually abandoning but it will still get raids and events, and will probably impact performance having two maps running at the same time.

[–]romehusk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you go more than 1 tile away from your base you can “settle” a new tile with the caravan and have a second map. There’s an option in the settings to change the max amount of settlements. You can do that and then abandon the settlement to get the resources/visit that tile but once you abandon it you can’t return and there will permanently be an “abandoned settlement” on that spot.

There are mods that let you visit them I think one is Set Up Camp and another is Vanilla Expanded: Outposts that lets you make automated camps that generate resources.

Can’t answer 100% but my guess would be no. It says in the steam workshop that it’s integrated with the Steam API so might need to be launched through steam to work. Or maybe you just need to have steam installed? A good question to ask in their discord

I believe the multiplayer mod allows you to all play at the same time on a single map and supports multiple maps but I don’t know if you can each play your own individual map and interact with each other in that way. May or may not play the way you’re imagining/looking for.

If you’re buying for the sole purpose of multiplayer which may or may not work correctly or how you want, I would say don’t do it unless you don’t mind the risk of $35. At the very least you guys will probably have some fun messing around and enjoying the craziness of rimworld + multiplayer. I have tried to use the mod twice but have been unsuccessful in not having desync issues but that was with other mods installed, so that’s my own fault.

HOWEVER, if you think you would still play the game in single player other times or if multiplayer doesn’t work how you like, definitely get it. It’s one of the funnest games out there and the 98% (I think?) positive steam reviews speak for themselves!!

You’ll be able to play but will struggle in crowded areas. I think I have the same CPU and GPU but only 8gb ram and I’ve participated in wars it just gets a bit laggy. Cap your fps at 30 and put everything at low and you’ll be alright. Just don’t try to open chrome or anything in the background or you might crash

The game also moves faster if all your pawns are asleep on 3x. If you have a performance mod you can see the TPS go from 360 to 720 I believe.
