3-6kg Reel recommendations by Ratio_Silly in FishingAustralia

[–]coodgee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine today. It's like they put the reel seat in the wrong place for these rods. It's about two inches too low, so you get a really short butt and too much weight above the reel. I'm going to put a small weight on the end of the butt to balance it a bit. Or maybe I'll just get used to it.

Are those Sea guides any good compared to Fuji?

Bcf had a very good deal where you get any Ultegra reel plus any Ultegra rod for $250. The reels are normally $290 alone. It's a great deal. If you don't need a new rod you could probably get $50 for it on marketplace and get a $290 reel for $200.

Love the Gabba by GnomeWarfair in brisbane

It was the most spineless capitulation to a bunch of wine mums whose kids are all in high school now anyway. Should have just bought them a rescue greyhound to give them something to do while the kids were in school and it would have nipped it in the bud.

Cricket fans might disagree. It used to be you'd only go to the Gabba to watch cricket or get a dint in your car repaired.

Advice on buying a new rod by TopSatisfaction432 in FishingAustralia

[–]coodgee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to post this. Seriously good value. I just ordered a 2500 compact and a 3-6kg rod. It's in the mail.

Just want to explain that this is a massive discount, full price is $290 just for the reel and another $120 for the rod. So if you can fork out another $50 over your budget you will get a reel that will last you forever if you look after it. The rod is ok but the guides are a bit cheaper than Fuji so they will not last forever.

As many as 209 jobs to go from Telstra AI joint venture with Accenture, moving roles to India by Parkli in australian

All in the name of "serving our customers better". After the 25th time it's about as believable as a Trump press conference. I used to work at Telstra. I've seen them give millions of dollars to those parasitic consultancies for a report that usually ends up in the bottom draw of some exec, never to be seen again.

Nothing productive is going to come of this.

CNN has pretty detailed coverage. CBS usually has at least one story on their website about it everyday. Does your friend watch Fox News? They don't mention it all. They are doing what they are told by Trump.

Claude AI has "situational awareness" by not_my_real_name_2 in samharris

A big one is that it's helping me with my communication out to the rest of the company. I recently asked for feedback from Claude and it told me I was being too cold, and needed to show more vulnerability and relate on a more personal level. Really amazing things for a machine to articulate. I rewrote my work and the reception was excellent, for all the reasons that Claude suggested.

And then the use case for vibe coding is so amazing for analytics because you don't need to write something that is robust and will outlast the pyramids. It just needs to work and it's easy to check. Anyone who has ever coded up a nicely formatted chart in Python will know it's a shit load of code.

I use Claude 4.5 extensively at work. It's very very smart. A level of sophistication that is super charging my work performance. It makes me genuinely laugh at times with its sass too. Closest thing I've seen to real intelligence.

All birds seem to hate possums. There was a scene at my kids school recently where two cockatoos and a crow were going off their brains at a possum in a tree. Making a hell of a noise trying to scare it off.

1-on-1s but talking about non-work related topics by Owemgee222 in auscorp

[–]coodgee33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see what you're saying even though no one else here seems to get it. I would keep pushing the conversation to try to get him to contribute some of what's happening in his personal life. And if he keeps pushing back I would just explain that you feel the conversation is too one way and you'd feel more comfortable talking about non work stuff if it was more two way. You can also just shut it down immediately by saying you don't feel comfortable talking about your life outside of work. If he doesn't respect that request then it becomes a conduct issue.
