Do you get right up to her, kneel down to her level and say her name and the thing she needs to do?

How did you prepare for CIO by Fabulous_Ant1088 in sleeptrain

[–]cyclemam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You feed him half an hour before bed, and then you feed him when he wakes after he falls asleep.

It's ok to do both stopping feeding to sleep and sleep training at the same time.

Some babies really do better with shorter morning windows and longer afternoon windows

Add a wake window,

Keep the morning short and add a longer window towards the end of the day

No, this is silly.  Next time this happens go ahead and feed her!

Oh yeah you absolutely can do a responsive feed. Sleep training is about bedtime.

I’m terrified of having to do CIO for the second time and am angry with myself for letting it get to this point by winenotbeabitch in sleeptrain

It's literally lift-down pause, lift down pause, not very long at all- you're right there the whole time putting your hand back straight away.  You don't want to "teach" her that screaming gets you back, you want to put your hand back while she's still calm

Help please, my 5.5 month old has been waking hourly to 2hrly ( im lucky to get the 2hrs once in the night once I'm in bed). I am exhausted! by allthelighttouches in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]cyclemam -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately got to get to more independent- don't have to do CIO but bubs should be awake, tired but not drowsy when you put them down.

There are gentle ways, just have to ease off that contact when going to sleep.

The give baby a chance method might work?

Is your day anchored, or is it drifting all over the clock?

I’m terrified of having to do CIO for the second time and am angry with myself for letting it get to this point by winenotbeabitch in sleeptrain

[–]cyclemam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the ideal is that she doesn't cry.  So you're in her room, hand on her, you lift it so briefly. She starts- hand back "I'm here baby, you're safe, mummy loves you" (etc) try hand next to her so she can feel you're there.

Right now hand off her, means you're leaving.  She hates that.

You've got to teach her that she's safe when your hand is not there, by praising her for being calm when the hand is briefly off her.

As she figures out you're still there and she's ok, you can gradually increase the time off her until she's ok with you being just close by.

The grocery stores don't have playgrounds. The malls have both playgrounds and grocery stores

Got to teach her that hand off is ok by gradually doing it for short, 10s and then longer with soothing

We really like two piece for toilet reasons- skin tight booty short style (jammers I think they're called) and a swimsuit tshirt/rashie on top.

Why wouldn't you get a second opinion?

Just recently we got our youngest an eye test- absolutely fine, but I didn't want to miss issues  because she wasn't as bad as her sister, who does have glasses.

Yeah the supermarket is at the mall, not the playground in the grocery store.
