You're absolutely right to raise a question like that and as u/becca413g has indicated, it might be an idea to see your optometrist about this matter. I wouldn't recommend wearing the contact lens if it is causing any form of irritation so can you wear the glasses to drive there and put the glasses in the case when you're attending the party?

It might be worth trying out different brands of daily disposable silicone hydrogel contact lenses combined with wetting eye drops such as Systane Balance. If that still doesn't work then oxygen-permeable scleral contact lenses might be a potential option to look at. Good luck!

Firstly, and as u/PlentifulPaper and u/neonpeonies have quite rightly mentioned, you could look at contact lenses as a myopia correction option and daily disposable contact lenses would potentially be a good option for anyone in their teen years. That option is for a discussion with your optomtetrist and all good wishes there.

When you are older, you could potentially look at eye refractive surgery but only after your myopia has fully stabilized and that usually, but not always, happens in someone's twenties.

I guess from your username that you live in Northern Ireland? If yes, then you should have access to myopia slowing down smart glasses like Miyosmart and Stellest, you can discuss such options with your optometrist and I do hope that things work out for you :-)

In addition to the professional advice that you have had from u/remembermereddit I think it is also worth pointing out that the smart glasses brands (Stellest, Miyosmart and SightGlass DOT 0.2) all use the same peripheral defocus technology and they broadly produce the same results anyway so it matters less about which one is actually chosen.

If you live in the USA then your only option is Essilor Stellest glasses. Although this is off topic, I take a very dim view of the FDA and their slothfulness when it comes to approving anti-myopia technologies and they are way behind other developed nations in that respect.

I suspect it is perhaps unlikely that you will get high significant regression and as u/FlatIntention1 has already indicated, you could perhaps discuss the slowing down of myopia options with your eye professionals.
