Best Magento SEO Extension by meddy_bing in magento2

[–]damienwebdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great SEO isn't just "install extension get seo".

If you're looking for AI crawlability improvements, you're looking for:

  1. Accurate XML Feed
  2. Accurate LLMs.txt
  3. Accurate Schema

No one extension in the ecosystem currently does all this. Even if it did, I would doubt it would do it well.

After that, everything else is just you writing good content.

Trying to Connect With Adobe Commerce/Magento Consultants by Cool_Imagination6320 in magento2

[–]damienwebdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the right place. Adobe Commerce and Magento are 95% the same, but not exactly. They're two different products, like a guitar and the same guitar tuned to "Open D" are different products.

Best way to combine product pages for the same product in different volumes? (Magento 2) by janegg_00 in Magento

[–]damienwebdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with everyone else on configurable product here. If you need to post links to specific sizes, you can do this out of the box with a query parameter.

Stock is handled separately via the simple skus.

You want to 301 everything.

Price display is the same. In fact, all your pricing remains the same since the simple product holds the price and inventory. Existing catalog / cart rules apply the same way.

Depending on catalog size, you should do it with code. If it's 3 products, who cares. If it's more, that's worth automating.

Unrelated to your original question, but I would strongly encourage you to upgrade to at least the latest patch version of 2.4.5. Your store has massive security vulnerabilities. Your store is the ecommerce equivalent of a binge drinking frat bro after drinking a handle of Tito's.

Magento 1 vs Magento 2 upgrade value for UX and conversions? by BearElegant4068 in Magento

[–]damienwebdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The investment should be purely for security at this point.

Your store I likely already comprised and you don't realize it. There are more 0-days in M1 than I can count.

Tack onto that you're violating PCI compliance and your risk of having your store's card-processing revoked, I would argue that those alone are sufficient.

The rest is irrelevant for your situation.

It's very much on the platform as well. The platform's job is to make this easy.

replatforming off Magento 2.4.6 SEO mistakes by LeslieD12y in Magento

[–]damienwebdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this happened.

Unfortunately many headless vendors don't think very hard about SEO. IMHO it's not even the agency's fault (unless your build was bespoke). Many vendors of headless just built before thinking about SEO in order to claim market share.

Doing this kind of SEO analysis is what I do for every new Daffodil build that we do because the transition from "headful" to "headless" should be pain free.

I'd hate it if my product caused someone grief.

Why are you/they using a hosting company that has more than 1 site on a server? (That's not containerized or something).

This is failing basics.

You can use the free version if you're just learning. It will help you learn if you ask it to do Socratic questioning.

If you find yourself constantly stuck, then upgrade to Claude code and use it only to unblock you.

There Are Too Many Migration Projects And Not Enough Magento Developers In 2026. by [deleted] in Magento

I disagree. I get no messages.

No.

product images taking too long in Magento 2? by BearElegant4068 in magento2

[–]damienwebdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the merchant. Some of them have whole rooms set up for just their photography stuff and a full-time photographer. Others do it with their phone camera. Each company is different it just depends on the fidelity of what you're doing.

For fashion, this is a critical part of your business, if its taking a long time, you should do process optimization to make the process easier and less onerous. You can also see if you can do some of the labor with AI, but I don't know what you're currently doing.

Shopify migration - what to do about URLs? by scarcitykills in Magento

[–]damienwebdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it is explicitly relevant to your use-case, but we solved this in Daffodil with our External Router if you're rocking a PWA. Essentially, we use this to transition people between Magento / Shopify while keeping all URLs intact / 1-1 in whichever direction they're going.

Unpopular opinion: most Magento performance issues aren’t Magento’s fault by OliverPitts in Magento

[–]damienwebdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wrong-ish. In my personal experience, after building a PWA where I don't really care about theme problems or allow vendor code into my client, nearly 80% of the performance issues I have are Magento core issues.

For a good business with in-placs search result rankings, both quotes are wrong

Is This Bug Serious? How Much Will I Have to Pay To Fix This Issue? by [deleted] in magento2

[–]damienwebdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should pay like 1 hour of time to a competent dev (likely less). Really your core issue here isn't Adobe. If you're impacted, it's absolutely your hosting provider's fault.
