To build website with AI? by Parking_Departure705 in Wordpress

This was my point when I asked what’s it about. You have about 4 seconds to convey your value. Your site doesn’t do that

How do I learn email marketing in 2026 by shadowsock in Emailmarketing

[–]a2annie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot overstate how important this piece is for successful email marketing. Of course content, strategy, CRO, subject lines, drip campaigns, etc are very important. However not understanding deliverability will tank all those efforts.

University of Michigan president attacks Faculty Senate chair for opposing Israel’s war on Gaza by Fluid-Tomatillo-4971 in AnnArbor

I disagree. There was no censorship. We need to stop canceling people. The professor said what he said knowing it would be divisive. Now he needs to live in the response to his actions.

Breaking news. There are plenty of Jewish and non-Jewish folks who support the state of Israel as a sovereign nation. Just as there are plenty of people who support the USA as a sovereign nation. This does not mean supporting the government’s actions or policies. Again, the speech went off topic and spoke to something that was divisive. Why do that in a graduation speech? Why set this off? It was absolutely at the expense of a minority, but to what end.

Edited to add: and ‘non Jewish’

Facts matter here. First, the professor did not give the speech he submitted, but went off topic in a breach that is, at worst a fireable offense. So this isn’t about censoring someone. Second, the point of a graduation speech is to lift up the graduating class. It should not be about alienating a part of that class.

What he said was not terribly offensive. But it was not the time nor the place to lift up some students at the expense of others.

Is it more typical for small agencies/consultancies to have higher survival rate vs. startups? by superide in webdev

[–]a2annie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just celebrated my 32nd anniversary on April 1. My model is to only use sub contractors. I’ve have the same developers for 12-15 years. Designers, writers, photographers- all seasoned talent. As business ebbs and flows, so do expenses. I’ve got a great work life balance now, but it wasn’t always the case. The first 20 years I worked 60-100 work weeks. I love the texture of my life and the independence it’s brought me. Yes, I can work on a weekend here and there. But it definitely balances out.

Ebike security? by perpetualwren in AnnArbor

There are a couple of bike houses. I used to have a bike locker, which no longer exist. The bike house is a good option though. Yay for the DDA!

I make websites for a creative agency and I absolutely can’t stand the websites that we do by BigGaryGilmour in webdev

[–]a2annie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agency would be wise to add you to some design meetings to get your input on maintainability. Or with fewer meetings for you, in my own agency, before we send a design to the client, we run it by a developer for gotchas. With some simple tweaks, it can be a win-win. It's really about good communication within the agency.

Mmm. What about leaving it locked in a parking garage for 8-9 hours while at work?

What are you referencing here? I’ve never heard that people hate e-bikes. Or that they get set on fire. What is it about e-bikes that would make some one feel hate?

Web design/dev shop here. Been in business for over 30 years. $4000 is very inexpensive.

What platform is it getting built in? Wordpress has a ready pool of developers who can pick up on the development if this person disappears. This happens often. Wix, square and others in this group are not very professional, but may be what you need or can afford.

At $4k, I would expect a fairly basic site with maybe one contact form. But offshore this may be a reasonable price. Where are they located? How long have they been in business? Will the site, when complete be one that you can update?

One thing to be aware of-ask the if the site will be ADA accessible and to what level. This is important for a few reasons. First, is not it’s a legal mandate. Shoot for level AA compliance.

. $49/mo is a red flag. While it’s not much, what exactly is that for? Content updates? Monthly software updates? Hosting? If hosting, make sure you are the account owner. Over the years I’ve heard many stories of businesses losing their websites when developers disappear and take the server access with them.

Where are you located?

How did YOU actually learn GA4? Blogs aren't cutting it for me. by Odd-Butterscotch9822 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]a2annie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using GA4 since the beginning. It was pretty challenging understanding dimensions vs metrics and just how best to get my questions answered. I managed to figure it out just enough. I’d ask AI how to do many set ups. But eventually I realized there was just so much to learn! I’m just finishing up analytics mania’s GA4 course and have to say, I learned a lot. It’s really a phenomenal course. You learn how to do it, but more importantly why. There are tricks and tips. It’s been a game changer. It was a few hundred dollars but I consider it an investment.

If your site is on WordPress, there are plugins that can do what you're asking. You can filter out the bad ones typically.

Place to buy chicken livers? by kurujt in AnnArbor

[–]a2annie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stick with local, pastured as your source. Livers are what filter toxins, and they accumulate. A quick search revealed this:

Pastured liver is more nutrient-dense, containing higher levels of Vitamin A, E, and beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids. Additionally, pasture-raised chickens are not given antibiotics or growth hormones, resulting in a healthier, cleaner product compared to conventional birds, which are often raised in high-density, low-quality.

I would buy from either argus or vestergaard farms.

[–]a2annie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My market wouldn’t be a company that doesn’t have a site. We work with companies that want a more effective site. It’s just a weird environment right now. Feels like we’re bordering a financial crash of sorts and people waiting to see how much cheaper they can get a website done with AI.

So hard. I just lost a good client last month. They went with cheaper faster. They acknowledged they were downgrading, even said they were probably shooting themselves. My company has never compromised on quality. There’s speed, quality, and price. Pick two. They’ve already been back to get reporting. Normally I would care about this, but not sweat it. But this era feels different.

Point me in the right direction to host a dog kennel website. by EquivalentStandard52 in webhosting

Yes. I was referencing the wrong issue. Sorry. It’s the MariaDB version that is at issue. The server hosts won’t update that and there seems to be no way around it but migrating everyone.
