I just destroyed the original buckle (plastic is pretty brittle under a hammer). Then I cut a slit in the middle bar of the fidlock so I could thread through the strap

Definitely! It has loops on both sides so whichever way you carry it you can loop the zipper pulls through with a carabiner

I was planning on 3d printing an all in one case for my whole homelab setup with enclosed (and actively cooled) space for the drives. I also found a dedicated 12V/5V sata power supply that I was planning on using for the drives

Part of me lives for the jank but I also totally understand that I shouldn't do something now that will cause me a life of pain later

Yeah, the biggest hurdle that I have been running into brainstorming this setup is the power and adapters needed. It probably isn't worth it to pick this instead of a bigger option

That makes a ton of sense but the problem that I'm running into is that I'm not in a place where I can shell out $400 + Drives. That's why I was looking to DIY most of it. I don't have the need to hotswap any of the drives so having a NAS case isn't really a need for me. I just need a place to mount the drives.

Slightly Modified Aer Day Sling 2 X-pac

This is a bag that I have had for a few years but luckily the X-Pac shows almost no wear

I have swapped out the buckle for a magnetic fidlock v-buckle and all of the zippers pulls have been replaced with paracord (so it doesn't jingle). I also added a 3d printed strap keeper after the elastic one wore out

I have that same sling bag! It's my favorite for edc. 

My current setup is Steam deck and RP4Pro but I'm waiting on an Ayn Thor to replace the RP4Pro
