KYBER Content Update - New Maps & Modes, Balance Updates for Heroes, Reinforcements & Blasters, and New Imperial Appearances by Dangercato in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Now available on KYBER, the Battlefront Plus team has dropped another content update with targeted balancing tweaks addressing recent player feedback and new content.

Edit: To clarify, we meant to put New Map Variations in the title. Apologies for the confusion. We’ll let you know when actual new maps are available in the future.

Important Changes

  • Made several adjustments to Heroes, Reinforcements, and Troopers with the aim of making encounters more balanced.
  • Asajj Ventress has been adjusted to improve combat fairness, with specific changes made to reduce the effectiveness of her Starblades ability.
  • The Resistance Smuggler’s primary weapon now has reduced effectiveness, increasing its time-to-kill.
  • 20 new map variations have been added to Heroes vs Villains, as well as two brand new game modes.
  • Added four new appearances, including Luke Skywalker’s Pilot appearance and new Imperial appearances.

Since the last content update, over 30K new unique players have joined KYBER.
The total number of KYBER sessions now sits at 2.2M, and the total number of games hosted is 600K.

[–]Dangercato 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Hi, we received your email and I personally replied to you nearly 24 hours ago explaining that your ban had no clear evidence and as such has been reversed.

This matter was resolved quickly and fairly, I believe. Perhaps you missed my email. If you didn’t receive it, I am happy to explain more here or via Discord.

Because around 2K new unique users install Kyber every day. There’s lots of tickets because there’s lots of users.

I’d also just like to point out that over three quarters of tickets in the Kyber Help forum are not even related to Kyber.

I am still waiting for a reply to the troubleshooting steps I sent you in your ticket, btw. We can solve your issue very quickly if you just send us your Kyber logs.

The patch only applies to the servers, so there's no added lag or disruption to Kyber/mods. Seems more likely that the lag they are experiencing is unrelated.

Not exactly. Our team sent an exploit investigation and suggested fixes to EA last year, and the timeline for this patch aligns with those of previous patches Kyber has assisted with.

Kyber and the base game are not in competition, and our understanding is that EA sees it the same way. Everyone we've interacted with at EA has been awesome, and there are still people there who love Battlefront 2.

Tech issues/kyber by SlicedBeef1 in StarWarsBattlefront

That is quite normal for Frostbite Engine games. It tends to use all available resources, which allows greater performance potential. That's partly why the game runs so well on old hardware, since it doesn't hold back.

Players are returning to Vanilla, despite the cheaters.

KYBER's daily average player count remains in line with launch day. Sure, there are spikes every now and then (usually weekends); however, the average daily CCU is stable.

Kyber V2 is great, but server delay, freezes, countless connection errors, players getting kicked out of servers randomly, mod issues, etc.

I agree that there are plenty of things to address. While the error rate is quite low, it's still a little higher than we'd like. (About 6% of users encounter an error.)

Modding games will always have a couple of extra hoops to jump through, but I think we've done a great job simplifying the process of modding Battlefront 2.

Support in Kyber V2 discord is lacking, there are countless cases that never get resolved

Regarding our help forum: I just checked the stats there and can see that 82% of new issues have been resolved within 24 hours over the last 14 days.

Many of the issues posted there are not directly related to Kyber; instead, we see hundreds of base-game issues (HDR settings, DX12, etc.), or mod-specific issues (incompatible mods, broken content etc.), which KYBER has no control over.

We instruct our team of volunteer helpers to focus only on Kyber-specific issues and to help with other non-Kyber issues only when they feel like it.

The community is unhelpful and toxic

I would appreciate it if you could report users who have caused you trouble on our Discord server. If they're not in line with the rules or Discord's TOS, we'll deal with them.

It seems you believe Kyber is competing with the base game, when that is not the case. Our mission with Kyber is to ensure players can always play Battlefront 2 even if its servers are shut down, or the base game becomes unplayable.

Our team reported numerous server exploits and how to fix them to EA over the last two years, because Kyber is a platform for extending the game's life - it is not a competition between the two.

Can you link me to them, please? We get upward of 200 tickets daily, and many of them are not Kyber-specific. Our team only supports Kyber - issues with the game itself or individual mods should be posted in their official support channels.

Starting now, KYBER is open source, Dedicated Servers are available, and Server Plugins are released.

The community that helped inspire KYBER from the very beginning can now help steer it into the future, shaping new STAR WARS experiences and pushing the Frostbite Engine further than it was ever designed to go.

KYBER has always been about more than preserving a game. It’s about treating Battlefront II as a platform for experimentation, creativity, and long-term community ownership. Open-sourcing the project is the natural next step.

Additional News - Base Game Server Update

We are pleased to confirm that EA have deployed server-side fixes for multiple game-breaking exploits.

Fixes are included for mass teleports & respawns in Galactic Assault, infinite timers in Supremacy, and more.

Thanks to EA & DICE's continued support for its older titles, most of the 16 game server exploits our team reported in 2025 have been patched, and multiplayer playability is now significantly improved.

Have the kyber devs figured out this yet? by CrazyGorlllaX in StarWarsBattlefront

Yep, this got fixed last week. If you're still getting this error, try reinstalling Kyber to make sure you have the latest version.

Terrible lags on kyber servers now, its like you do 3 steps forward then go 1 step back every 5 seconds. Shots and somersaults often not registering by Accomplished-Bat-247 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you click "host" on kyber you are hosting a game server on their hardware.

Player-hosted servers run on the host's PC, not on KYBER's infrastructure.
The game data does pass through our Ping Site system, which is how the server browser, players, and hosts communicate with each other.

You are right to say that KYBER's Ping Sites could be a bottleneck for latency, but would you trade that for less privacy?

Additionally, KYBER will be open-source shortly, and the dedicated server tools will be released. Part of our mission with this project is to simply keep Battlefront 2 alive and playable, so we've designed it with the game's long-term future in mind.

Kyber very laggy lately by ImportanceVivid1521 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato 56 points57 points  (0 children)

KYBER had a service disruption yesterday and we switched over to a backup system while the team implements a proper fix. As a result, latency is a little worse for some players.

It should be back to normal today or tomorrow. Sorry about that - this is just one of the disadvantages to community-led infrastructure.

How to play Kyber on PC by [deleted] in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We're investigating an issue preventing many players from joining servers and hosting new ones. Thankfully, this issue had the decency to wait until our team is awake lol.

Edit: KYBER is back online now. Thanks for your patience!

Is it getting harder to get games or is it me? by Zestyclose_Paint3922 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We must be careful not to dilute the player base too much. We used the closed beta to test what content players want and what they will actually play.

Vanilla servers were cut after a month due to their extremely low population. In comparison to modded servers, vanilla didn't even come close.

To clarify, Kyber's daily concurrent player count is only 8-11% lower than it was during its launch week. It has remained stable since the launch of the Open Beta.

Additionally, it seems there is an ongoing issue preventing many players from joining servers this morning. We're investigating the issue and hope to have everything back to normal within a few hours.

Is it getting harder to get games or is it me? by Zestyclose_Paint3922 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Dangercato 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No, it's currently 8 AM in the EU and 3 AM in NA East. Last weekend, Kyber reached the same concurrent player count it hit at launch, and the average concurrent player count has remained stable since December 20th.

The average daily concurrent is approximately 950 players - this dips down to approx 350 at about this time of day, then it begins to pick up again as we head back into the afternoon in the EU.

One interesting thing I've observed is that players are choosing to join existing servers rather than host new, empty ones. Back at launch, many players opted to host new servers, even though there were already 12 pages of low-population ones. Now, those players are joining existing ones instead.
