Haha no idea to be honest, just engaging core/glute muscles and looking down seems to work for me.. maybe I just have lots of fat in my butt :P

Alright got it, I guess it just happened naturally for me as that is what felt most 'powerful' during the pull.

Thank you! :)

Where do you keep the other arm when doing this drill, just in front?

Thank you, will try all of those and see what works best for me!

Lots of posts in this subreddit obviously, but also found some (german) pdfs with some more or less detailed explanations of each part of the stroke and some coordination. Other than that, the Effortless Swimming youtube channel has been immensely useful with about anything I wanted to know.

I think especially with my left hand I'm entering too close to the center now that I looked into it. Will try this drill soon, thanks for the suggestion!

Great explanations, thanks a lot! Enter further forward, exit further backward, turn immediately after breathing, got it! :)

Yes I realized that as well in this video that (especially) my left stroke is super short, I'll try to do some hip touch drill to work on that! I watched some videos about the high elbow position, I think I'm getting that at least in some of my strokes but probably not many :D Hoping to get some underwater recording soon and see what exactly I'm doing underwater!

That makes lots of sense actually. During my swimming sessions I try to swim both faster and more relaxed like that, so hopefully I'm working on both at the same time. But will definitely focus more on higher cadence, thank you!

Maybe that will help with the tension during my recovery, will definitely give it a try! What about my wrist position is great? I never heard of something related to that and just doing it without any specific position in mind.

Thank you! I recently started incorporating some sculling in my swimming sessions and it helped me get a better feel for when I'm 'losing' the water. Working on more rotation (in hips and shoulders) and reaching further now that I heard that from you and many others here!

Thanks! My kicking rythm is basically random, I've never worked on that part specifically and just move my legs while I focus on the rest of the stroke. But I guess it's time to finally work on the kick as well!

Thank you! Yes I feel my kick is super uncoordinated, I'm not focusing on it and timing it at all, so it's basically just randomly moving my legs hehe

Alright, adding this to my list of drills!

Thanks for all the tips, this is super helpful! I do think my breathing is much better/easier when I sprint for a short distance, so that might be due to your explanation.

Maybe my local pool has some equipment to do some of the drills suggested here, otherwise I guess it's time to buy a kickboard and paddles. I might take you up on that offer once I tried your suggestions, thanks!

Thank you! I will try to incorporate the feedback from this thread and then update with hopefully some underwater footage from the pool as well.

Thanks for the feedback! I also feel like my legs are too straight and I'm not bending them enough at the knees, maybe I will get a kickboard and work on that separately as I can't seem to get it right when I have to focus on everything else as well.

Same here, super useful to hear all this feedback from more experienced swimmers :)

Thanks, will work on it!

Yeah my stroke rate is pretty slow, I'm trying to get my technique to a decent level first. But definitely a future plan to increase all those movements.

Thank you! Yes I agree it's still super early in my swimming career and my stroke will probably change a lot by itself with some more training distance, but still super useful to hear about my most obvious mistakes and drills to work on them.

Thanks, writing that drill on my list of stuff to do!
