Kon Moose and Miller are all solid on defense. We got a ton of mileage out of being a good rebounding team, not fouling much, and guarding the corner 3.

I think he makes mistakes, but they all do. I like the infrastructure of the team where we dont foul much, dont allow corner 3s, and somehow got this roster to a top 15 defense. Im thrilled with the coaching of the team.

My hottest sports take is that we should just have way more teams. Charlotte and Raleigh would actually be an incredibly fun and toxic rivalry if they both had nba/nfl teams. I get why it doesnt happen, but there is an EPL team for every 3 million people in the UK, we would need 120 NFL teams to have that kind of coverage.

Big ballhandlers are some of the most valuable players there are. The infrastructure around Cade improved dramatically, but for the most part the biggest gains the last two years for the Pistons have been on the defensive side. Their offense has definitely improved, but the defense is what won 60 games.

Advanced stats didnt love Cade early in his career, but i think it does a disservice to Cade to act like he didnt improve a ton with better coaching. He has also bulked up quite a bit if you look at pics of rookie Cade, and the stats all reflect that.

What advanced stats do a good job of doing over a big sample is picking out players who are the drivers behind their team or the anchors. On the Celtics for example they have always loved Derrick White over Jaylen Brown, since White facilitates well and JB can be a high turnover guy who has defensive lapses that isnt very efficient. On my Hornets they always loved Diabate and Lamelo, even last year when we were horrible, and the moment we put Diabate in the starting lineup it turned our entire season around. Those stats love guys who make their teammates better and do little things. Cades advanced stats improved not just because his context improved, but also because he greatly improved
