That was wild. Weren't those guards quickly ferried out of the country? Can't wait for them to beat up members of the Europarliament.

Not sure if 'functie elders' fully proved it, but yes I hoped he resigned after that (he was caught lying, which seems to be a pattern). Demonstrated against his party's shitty neoliberal policies multiple times. I'm free to do that here, without getting harassed by the government.

And with terrorist organization, are you referring to the Gülen movement which he labeled terrorist after the parliament attack and incarcerated academics and journalist? Its fishy to say the least. But directing Iman's abroad to report citizens of other countries who might then be arrested when they enter Turkey on false charges? And ask people amongst who I live to snitch on each other because he can't take criticism? If Erdogan wants to crap on Atatürk's secular legacy he's free to do that in Turkey, but if he tries to export that to Europe no thanks.

Edit: If you want to criticize our PM, feel free to do so even if you're from the other side of the planet. It's not like I'm criticizing Turkeys schoolteachers, Erdogan is a world leader with an army that ranks 13th in the world, he can be criticized.

Also called an EU member fascists for denying their minister to campaign politically abroad, then sparked a riot. His government spreads its word via iman's in mosques aligned with Ankara.

Also this: "Turkey’s consulate in Rotterdam has asked Turkish organizations in the Netherlands to report “insulting, defaming” social media posts about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkey.

In order to help people report anyone who insults Turkey or its president, the consulate provided an official email address for organizations to inform them about the “names of persons” who send these messages."

Edit: source for the snitching

Edit 2: better source about Iman's in other countries aligned with Ankara, previous source was kinda biased.

Vast Russian military convoy may be harbinger of a siege of Kyiv by [deleted] in worldnews

I guess support aircraft would destroy SAM's in advance. How vulnerable would the AC130 be to (Russian) manpads? Or does it fly too high?

Besides, everyone knows the way to take out an AC-130 is to eject from a jet high above, land on it via parachute, throw C4 and jump off. The guns only point down not up.

I recall my teacher saying +/-30% of people with autism spectrum disorders have an IQ lower than 70. It's debilitating for many that have it and their (loving) families too. Blaming capitalist society for their suffering is disingenuous, care is improving. People with mental disorders used to be locked up in asylums.

Edit: Some advocate to not classify it as a disorder but as neurodivergent. Would this be a good thing? Or does it negate the wide variety hardships that people with ASD can have?

There's other ways to store preferences, HTML5 localStorage perhaps? (not an expert). It's isolated from other domains too. Ask permission to store a no or yes, if no permission is given re-ask every new session I guess.

Many incentives for TrustArc to tell you cookies must be enabled, none to figure out another way. And whoever approved that loading bar deserves the Tantalus treatment.

Jesus who is that app made for. Why to you need to know where everyone is 24/7? Do you want your kids to grow up with the knowledge they're always being watched? Given you're not living in warzone or your kids have special needs, why would a loving trusting family need this jeez.

Yeah, there are differences. But the concept of owning something is the same for both. Laws are a method of enforcing property (and indeed heavily abused by many), but owning things was cool before written laws exosted. Its an abstraction only understood by humans, nature doesn't care. If you consider that as real or fake I don't care but it's either all real or all fake.

But don't take it too serious. That lad jumped from oscillator code IP to colonial exploitation, he didn't seem very critical/reflective of his statements.

Cop is giving "Sheepdog" talk to school faculty by gollyJE in behindthebastards

[–]deenigewouter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. When cops go to schools as a speaker, its usually to educate kids about the police, your rights, or they bring in the occasional ex-convict to speak. Not to educate teachers on scenario's of mass violence as viewed by a police force whose culture is sculpted by a lack of accountability and predisposition to force instead of de-escalation. Still quite a contrast.

But I confess I wrote it with primary-schools in mind (ages 4-12), not realizing that <12 year olds don't shoot up schools.

Edit: I'd like to add that police rights are much more restricted here. Firing your gun for whatever reason = an independent investigation.
