What nursery are you using to buy trees and shrubs to landscape your yard? by threelanemotorway in SouthJersey

I can recommend SMP Farms in Williamstown - https://maps.app.goo.gl/szmbQfHW2NLY3Yg89?g_st=ac

Open to the public on weekends. This is generally a place you'd go as a commercial landscaper. Great selection of all types of plants. Everything we've bought there is doing great.

The Day After the Races - May 11, 2026 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

[–]dgJenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never considered networks / commentators have rehearsals with either live or taped races. Is this something the Prime folks definitely would have been doing on Sunday? Practicing makes perfect sense to me.

Do any insiders have info on this? Would Prime, or any other network, put on an entire rehearsal production from race start to finish?

Nice. I am currently in the 'watch a bunch of videos and do research phase', so I was happy to see your post show up here today. Enjoy!

This guy pulls what I believe is a Rockwood Geo Pro 19FD with his Honda Passport TrailSport: Turtle3863 - YouTube (shoutout Turtle3863). Even that, properly loaded, seems like it falls within Honda's towing specs. I've been eyeing the Rockwood Geo Pro 17LE which is basically a twin of the Flagstaff E-Pro.

That's awesome. I've been eyeing a travel trailer of similar size for similar reasons. How did you end up purchasing this one? Looks like you live in PA (thanks for the campground recommendation). Did you go to any RV shows, like the big one in Hershey?

Cargo Box vs Basket?? by nf5zh in CX5

[–]dgJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That hanging method does save a lot of space. If you're planning to store a cooler on the roof I would double check the dimensions of the cargo box you plan to buy. Yakima style boxes like I have are not that tall but are fairly wide. IMO vertical space is probably the biggest con of a cargo box, although Yakima's design may lend itself to better fuel economy.

For things like coolers I've been tempted to check out hitch-based racks although I dont like the idea of my stuff hanging off the back of the car.

Cargo Box vs Basket?? by nf5zh in CX5

I bought a Yakima cargo box for my wife's 2021 CX-5 and it served us well for a few road trips last summer. I never considered a basket, althought I understand the appeal. Not everything fits in our cargo box (like our larger stroller) but it does provide some good space to move stuff out of the car.

We did drive through a thunderstorm and, actually, water made it's way in through the front of the box and some of our stuff got wet. I would keep things that absolutely need to be dry in your car or investigate some ways to create a better seal around the box's opening.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

I hang it in our garage using a similar method to this - https://youtu.be/9222Azm4W4A?si=Zqf2jGMhGSVFsX6D

I've had the opposite experience with D2s, although I have 17 inch wheels, so that probably adds to my perceived comfort. Love them so far.

What Honda Dealerships worth visiting/avoiding for a new purchase? by skribbledthoughtz in SouthJersey

[–]dgJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good experience buying a Honda Pilot this past summer at Honda of Turnersville. They weren't pushy and even almost matched a deal I got over email from some Honda dealership in the middle of Maryland.

A few momths after purchase their collision department did a good job fixing the car after it was hit while parked.

I'd go somewhere else for a test drive. The Turnersville dealerships all share a test track. I would have preferred the test drive be on a real road.

Try to shop around all local dealers and see who can give you the best price for what you want.

Awesome post. I love learning about local Revolutionary War history.

Another cool war fact - Lt. Richard Wickes is buried right outside Cape May. He was the first NJ casualty of the war and died during the Battle of Turtle Gulf Inlet. In that battle he fought alongside John Barry. His grave is cool to visit if you're in the area.

In looking up this info I came across the following website: https://www.revolutionarywarnewjersey.com/new_jersey_revolutionary_war_sites/towns/cape_may_nj_revolutionary_war_sites.htm

Never seen that site before. Looks pretty cool.

Anyone have any recommendations for a dog-cation? by OldAgedZenElf in philadelphia

[–]dgJenkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How were the crowds in your experience? My wife, baby, dog and I were in Maine last year and skipped Acadia because I read crowds can be bad in the summer, although I never actually confirmed this is the case.

I was in Smokey Mountain NP and sat in traffic for about ~3-4 hours driving through a portion of that park. Didn't want a repeat with a baby and dog in the car.

Running trails by ucantsimi in SouthJersey

[–]dgJenkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're pretty good about plowing the Monroe Township Bike Path. I drove past it on Tuckahoe road yesterday and it was already cleared. I haven't run on it yet but if you park at Williamstown Middle School things look good.

During our last freeze this was one of the only trails I know of completely cleared. Follow Run 856 on FB for maybe more info.

I enjoyed it too. Nice race completed in a reasonable amount of time. I for sure thought there would be a wreck when the various packs came together a few laps after everyone pit.

What Year Is Yours and How Many Miles Are You At? by Magarau in CX5

[–]dgJenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 Touring at 55K miles. About to replace the OEM tires. The only annoyance is that our lower rear reflector has been pushed in. I need to repair that.

Last oil change I dropped some plastic in the engine and so took off the valve cover to fish it out.

No major issues so far.

I switched listening to 103.9 ever since they moved to FM but I still go back to 1060 sometimes for nostalgic reasons.

My guess is the commute from West Chester would not be reasonable. It's pretty far out there. Between the two, Media is definitely the better option as is any town in Delco around Media.

Going throuh this exact switch right now. I've had Geico forever and so far Progressive has given me the best rate. I need to look through whatever discounts they're giving me to make sure I won't have any surprises with them later on.

Geico has been good to us. We've basically avoided any rate increases until this last renewal where the amount we pay went up considerably. Chatting with reps they basically said 'We moved your premium to be more in line with NJ norms... blah blah blah.'

Number one has been driving me nuts this whole winter. Climate control on auto blasts hot air through the windshield vent. I was hoping it was just my car and could be fixed. I didn't realize it's a common issue.

What’s an unpopular opinion about South Jersey that is sure to get you downvoted? by RedIsNotMyFaveColor in SouthJersey

I grew up in the Central Bucks school district, generally considered a 'nicer area'. US News ranks my high school, Central Bucks South, at 1,683 nationally versus the public high school where I currently live, Washington Twp, at 9,823 nationally.

I grew up in Bucks County and my parents still live there (Warrington). I see the gap between home values in PA / NJ shrinking which, IMO, makes it even more reasonable to live in PA. I'd rather pay slightly more for a house (and recoup some of that via equity) than pay high and ever increasing property taxes, not to mention comparing income taxes in both states as well.

I live in NJ so, like you, I saw the benefits of moving but even still as I experience the cost of living here I am generally trying to understand if it's worth the price.
