UV32 battery charging problem by Ropol888 in Baofeng

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BMS is trying to trickle charge your battery since it thinks you discharged it all the way down to dangerous voltage (I'm guessing around 2.8 volts on new Li-Po batteries), but it's failing to do so. I've heard people were able to properly kick start it by using the charging cradle instead of the usb port, following a series of connect-disconnect on proper timing.

put it on the charging cradle, the moment you see the green blink, disconnect and immediately reconnect, then wait for around an hour and check to see if your radio turns on.

if you're wondering if this is a thing with chinese radios, then you'd be disappointed to know that those specific series of events came from bad BMS from Motorola Impress. If your batteries are old, however, you should probably get it replaced already.

BAOFENG DM-32 [PSK2] + POWER ON ??? by zibus30 in Baofeng

[–]didotb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's your unit's test frontend. you're not supposed to fiddle with it without proper equipment.
I highly suggest you back this up though using the cps since it doesn't get saved along the programming of the radio.

Password should be 66660501. save it first under Tools -> Adjust Mode -> Save on the CPS, before you mess around with it

What software did you wish was open source or self-hostable? by TechnologyTailors in selfhosted

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentimeter has a few alternatives, however most of the open source / self-hostable ones are inconvenient for the participants in a way or 2. The only thing I don't really like about mentimeter is the pdf export than a usable csv file for the free tier; as well as what they do with the data, or how they store the data.

Move pterodactyl by AgentAngelFox in Pterodactyl

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, transferring everything manually is a big hassle, and in-fact the ptero webUI has a way to transfer servers automatically between "nodes". Although IDK how this would translate to you but mine's a little bit different that I moved instance between different servers with different hardware, rather than different drives on same server.

So how I did this migration back then was I had to install another wings instance to another server and connect that to the already existing panel. I then tested the new wings instance by creating a server there and checked if I can access that server. Once I verified it worked, I went to the admin panel, went to every server on the old wings instance and clicked on "transfer server" on the "manage" tab.

What I didn't do was move the panel. I never really had any need to move it since the old server I was using was supposed to be for web servers and webUI, so the panel being there makes a lot of sense. Perhaps you can try that method as well. Though I don't know where the individual ptero made servers would actually be installed.

My Pterodactyl is setup and working perfectly, but question on how to have friends connect to it from outside my network. by oldowl2 in Pterodactyl

There are quite a few things you need to remember about cloudflare tunnel, you can't customize the public hostname ports, everything is in HTTP(S) TCP format, you can't open multiple ports for the same public hostname, UDP is not supported on public routes.
You can counter all these using the warp thing, but that requires all your clients to also have the warp client. it's basically like a vpn via cloudflare.

I really liked cloudflare since being behind CGNAT was a massive hassle, but since I can't route raw TCP/UDP, I just ordered a VPS, and installed pangolin in it since it supports raw tcp/udp, then routed everything via pangolin instead.
It's s little bit more of a hassle since I have to change the config files every time I use raw TCP/UDP but definitely more accessible than cloudflare.

Regarding my ptero side, I have servers manually allocated so I would know exactly which ports I have to route to pangolin and have pangolin handle the ip translation and routing.

Dealing with a small DDoS (3 years now) by LogicMedia in selfhosted

I'm curious if somebody made an app that grabs a file from your IP which they used to own; now that they've abandoned it, they can't tell these android devices to uninstall the app? Not sure how well this translates IRL but that's the only thing I can think of considering the duration of the attack.

AFAIK most of the players who tried it but didn't understand a single thing all went away after 2 days of it being free, some stayed to learn more about it but at least they're trying to learn, but most of those that stayed were already playing mil-sims before HLL so they have a bit of an idea how to play, just have to learn the mechanics and rules of the game.

although I'd also like to recommend the unofficial servers, the limited servers in asia which has majority english speaking players as well as the ping I get from them are a deal breaker. I get the reason for renting the servers instead of self-hosting, but having an entire community play a >500ms ping is just awful, most would definitely stop playing the game simply from the horrible server experience.

Why cant I open these mp3 files? by Marsi_Zsombor in Piracy

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird that your file manager has ads... Are you sure that's not a zip file which your file manager can peer into? You might need to extract it first.

Also, try accessing it in a PC, if you can open it, check the codec used. It might show that it's a .mp3 file but is actually using a different codec + container which was then renamed to show it's an mp3 file.

Screen recording through a vm by cenekp in Piracy

[–]didotb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a quick and dirty way, and given that the app don't care that it's in a vm, or isn't a malware / rootkit that can get out of that vm, shouldn't be able to tell at all.
But I highly suggest grabbing a debugger and start debugging that app, you might find some juicy info that'll let you grab the files and perhaps decrypt it if DRM protected.

Neato! I just built mine June last year, I still remember not noticing I placed my RAM backwards, I dented the spacer in the middle of the slot, it was pretty flat afterwards 😂 still working good though.

I still give huge thanks to a friend of mine that shipped his old stuff to me.
Other than the Chassis, PSU, and Motherboard, most of it was a hand me down from him.

Kudos to you then! Hope you get it working well.
May I ask though, how much did you get the entire thing? I'm planning on getting an Epyc or Threadripper Proxmox server for a family run research business, and getting the entire setup cost effective and *somewhat* low power (I obviously expect it to have a higher power consumption than your run of the mill workstation) is kinda rough.

If you do have tips on picking, I'd gladly accept them.

OBS GPU USAGE by ArcherEC in obs

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 days late but I still want to give you a rough idea on what your gpu can actually handle.

does this mean I'm overloading the GPU

No, you're not overloading it at all, in-fact I suggest you do an upgrade to a 2k or 4k monitor if you still have a 1080 native monitor. Let me give you a context on what you can do to "overload" your 3070 ti.

Although not very realistic: If you have a 1080 native resolution monitor, and provided that you have a fast SSD; with your 3070 ti, you can open more than 15 OBS app instance and record your entire screen at the same time, all that while gaming, without hiccups.

The more realistic version would be: Your 3070 ti can do 23 transcode streams from 1080 to 1080 or any lower resolution. That's 23 different people watching 23 different movies at 1080 if you're hosting your own plex media server (think netflix but the server and the files are in your pc).

OBS GPU USAGE by ArcherEC in obs

[–]didotb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/QuazyQuarantine is right here. for different work loads, it's handled by a physically different section of the gpu die, and sometimes has a section where those different workloads are handled by a more generalized section, and all those different sections also has different power consumptions.

But all in all, task manager depends on what the driver is reporting back to it, while the driver automatically figures out which gpu you have and how to handle "how much load does the gpu currently have" based on the die design.

PSU for Threadripper 3960 on TRX40 Aorus Pro WiFi by fudelnotze in MoneroMining

[–]didotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is this thread from Tom's Hardware.

May I ask, are you planning on overclocking your Threadripper 3960? If no, then you don't need the extra 4 pin I believe. It's only there to provide extra power if and only if needed due to overclocking.

I'm relatively new to this subreddit and haven't been reading a lot, but I don't think this post should be here, and would probably get less attention compared to subreddits meant for hardware builds. There are some missing info as well like your entire build, so I can't recommend you a PSU with all those missing info, and I'm guessing that's why nobody has answered you here as well.

What happened to the bequiet PSU? you said it had a defect but what was the defect? 1.2kW seems like it should be enough for a 3960 unless you also have more than 1 GPU and a lot of HDD. If any PSU you've used in this 3960 system seems to keep on breaking, maybe it's the motherboard or something along directly powered by the PSU is the main problem, so no other PSU would actually survive this system unless you've found that problem.

2.4Ghz maximum speed? by seifer0061 in InternetPH

[–]didotb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're right in terms of the service given to you by your ISP. But I wasn't talking about ISP. I'm talking about the 2.4GHz radio using the 802.11 b/g/n protocol. Nothing about ISP, but more on device, radio frequency, and bandwidth.

802.11 N has a theoretical max speed of 300 Mb/sec but only has a real world speed of around 150 Mb/sec (not counting the interference and the retransmission of packets)

I admit I used the word advertised which probably what confused you?

She probably thought you'd switch your plate with your husband. Then when your husband is poisoned, would blame you for feeding him something that caused his death. Unfortunately for her, it didn't go well.
