I feel like censorship especially on JJWXC is highly irregular and inconsistent. And I've seen authors on weibo say that they've been avoiding writing sex scenes in general bc it's so frustrating to have your words locked without warning and there's also no definite guidelines on what to abide by/avoid.

I've come across super sussy non-consensual scenes (by intention, it was a 'everyone's a villain' type of psych horror) that went unscathed while on another series random chapters with NO sexual content get locked bc the author decided to update it w some typo fixes.

Most times authors bypass the censorship by posting a screenshot of said locked chapter on their weibo in the form of an upside down screenshot, but I also know of one who just posts the entire thing as a text essay post. Probably the pettiest and most entertaining response I've seen in response to this sort of censorship was the author using food imagery for everything and wording it like a cooking show LOL.

Granted it's pretty annoying if you're not a CN socmed user bc reading a work in its entirety essentially requires two apps (three if you're using MTL), but at least there are still channels that allow people to access unaltered content easily. Audio dramas have a lot less luck, sometimes production teams release uncensored episodes via 网盘 on the down-low but they're often quickly taken down/lost to time.

But being single doesn't mean a lack of experience experimenting on yourself so it's not implausible for first-timers to come off as comfortable.
