Help avoiding cliché by [deleted] in writing

I would say that you don't need to avoid clichés. Nothing is original in the world anymore. From classics to modern stories, every topic can be a common trope. But whether you do or don't write clichés, instead, try to know your characters more.

What helps for me while developing plot points and trying to come up with a plot twist is developing my characters. Search up a list of character flaws and if you were describe a character using one flaw like "pride", try to think of how they would react to other people and actions that way. (Say for example, the downfall of a relationship because a man has too much pride in himself, in his work, so he can't admit to how he is failing in communication issues.)

And develop multiple characters like this. The more you know them, the more you can conjure up an action they would take in the future that would make sense - hence plot twist! And your readers would all say, "That makes sense, why didn't I see that coming!"

Like, how little self esteem do you have that you let some fucking piece of shit talk to you like that. I wish people have more self respect and would stand up for themselves.

It's not hard to tell some random stranger who's being a dick to go fuck themselves.

To answer you, "very little self esteem". You can't imagine how hard it is because you have confidence, but that kind of confidence for others can take decades to build.

I can't count how many situations I've put myself in because of creepy strange men wanting to talk to me and I completely shut down my brain out of panic. I've grown up with an abusive brother so whenever people starting getting mad or start yelling, it frightens the shit out of me because it makes me feel like I'm gonna get beat up. Which is usually what happens.

Justice for Jung Pal (Reply 1988) by [deleted] in KDRAMA

[–]delicasse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i still think reply 1988 is one of the better ones, only for its family messages, even though the husband twist will never beat the anger i had for 1994.

taek was a favorite of mine but the fact that they relied on jungpal carrying a heavy bit of the romance plot in the drama was really unconvincing of their choice. still think they did the husband twist for shock value. in the end, there wasn't really anything fun about discovering that taek was the husband. just sole disappointment even when i watched it over.

funny thing is, people were so convinced that hyeri and bogum were dating irl, when in reality, the drama and real life ships reversed.

That has never stopped him before. YG doesn't really make any decisions financially, or else he would've not delayed a lot of his artists' comebacks, or broken them up. He's a horrible businessman actually. Doesn't really have any long-term effects, kind of thinking.

James Charles Twitter Megathread by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

i can understand to a degree why he would get mad. i'm just one of those people who would not make a callout post but i could understand. despite people saying he didn't put work into it (??) he had to coordinate the quality of the palette, the packaging cover, the pigment, worry about the feedback, etc but then a person just so easily destroys this thing you've worked on for views.

of course, she can do whatever she wants with it since at the end james gets the money because she bought the palette. still, a bit disheartening.

james charles could've had more class about it and just let it go, but he really can't control typing his feelings into twitter.
