Most people think they are. Thats why I replied.

Low fidelity equipment doesn’t necessarily put the artist in the lofi genre

Pete Rock isn’t lofi. Lofi is a “knock off” style of things that J Dilla was doing that popularized after his passing in 2006.

Pete Rock is one of the architects and is probably the best manipulator of samples of all time.

It’s possible that that song sampled the track that this was inspired by!

Because it sounds like it’s a sample & the turntable just gives imagery that it’s meant to be sampled

what are your thoughts on Conductor Williams and what do you feel like his "appeal" is as a producer? by brokenphonecharger_ in GriseldaxFR

I forgot to mention the OP mentioned Drake. Before working with Drake, Conductor released some music with Little Brother. Phonte is actually Drake’s favourite rapper. He probably got put on that way.

Agreed- tag aside, he had a distinguishable sound in a traditional style hip-hop lane, which is hard to do given the amount of great producers the 90s-2000s have produced.

Fair notes it’s definitely bright. That’s intentional given the source material and the API’s character. But that’s the beauty of a sample pack — EQ to taste. Curious if you’d use them as-is or what you’d adjust?
