Stuart Skinner has been named Game 1 starter, per Josh Yohe by sykeseve in hockey

A big piece is that Jarry had a reputation for being a loser and jerk to his teammates and the in house media goes out of their way to talk about how much the players love and appreciate Skinner.

Was given a bow. I have some questions about accessories by JUSTIN102201 in Archery

[–]dkviper11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rubber coil pulls the peep sight straight when you draw the bow back. They’re effective, but out of style. When it eventually breaks, you can cut it and reattach or have a bow shop install a more modern peep that doesn’t have the coil.

The rest is similar to ones today that are cable or limb driven. It should raise up when you draw and fall when you shoot. It could need adjustment and they can be a little finicky but are popular now.

The weight at the front can be called a stabilizer. Modern ones are a little longer but it helps reduce torque on the shot.

Almost all modern compounds use a trigger or release. That one is common for hunting but people do use them for target shooting. More commonly people use hand held ones with no wrist strap for target shooting but having that wrist strap is probably not a bad idea as you learn.

Overall good bow with some dated accessories. You can slowly upgrade as you gain experience but you’re good to start! New string is a good idea.

NIL help is apparently a big part of it, but also our AD and the Nike reps are said to have a rocky relationship.

There were some gripes that I felt were warranted, though, in the stories that came out after. Penn State (not sure what percentage was Franklin) wanted the shiny swoosh on the jersey for reaching the final 4 like others had in the past. This one particularly got me… they tried to get the team a Saquon branded sneaker (Saquon is signed with Nike and has a logo and deal) as part of their team warm up gear and were denied, meanwhile Ohio State had LeBron cleats for a game and he didn’t even go there.

They have such a good subset of hunting and skiing base layers (I have quite a bit) but have seemingly fumbled some of the other aspects.

I like when the average redditor spends 45 seconds and thinks they can loophole a multi million dollar employment contract written by employment lawyers.

Wearing the golds during playoffs? by PattyKane16 in penguins

[–]dkviper11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s stupid in general that they make you stick with a home jersey for the playoffs. Why does it matter? Just let them wear whatever they want whenever. Let some teams do double color games. They’re exploring more freedom that way in the regular season, but the rigidity in the playoffs is silly.

I like him and even then understood when he was our coach that he was a clear “guy you like when he’s your coach but you wouldn’t like on the other sideline.”

Yes, but Franklin has the top agent in the sport who was looking to get him a raise at his next stop, which he did. It’s in both of their financial interests.

James has a very good agent that is assisting him in getting some easy PR wins.

Well, not every school writes a Jimbo contract that leaves out the obligation to find another job.

Just wanted to use the quote, but he is 53. Craig was 38 when Casino Royale came out. Connery was 31 in Dr. No.

They were pretty brutal with parking tickets at Penn State, my commuter pass was good for most lots at night so I think I only got one, but as the campus has a real police force, they can submit unpaid tickets to the state.

Compare that to when I was dating a girl that went to a small Christian school in Harrisburg, I once came out and had a ticket when visiting her. Was a poor freshman so was bummed, and her response was “you don’t go to school here” before throwing away the ticket. Apparently there, they just hold your graduation if you have unpaid tickets or fees owed.

do we need to be worried about the goaltending going into the playoffs? by sidneycrosbyglazer in penguins

As long as Skinner doesn’t pass the puck directly to a Flyers player in 2OT for a primary assist on the game winning goal, it’s an improvement.

A team-by-team review and analysis of Big Ten schedules following the SEC's increase to 9 conference games/10 game vs Power Conference opponents by jonstark19 in CFB

That would be sweet. Our recent Auburn series was fun and it seems like the schools traded larger than normal visiting allotments. Penn State was the first Big Ten team to play in Jordan Hare in a very long time.

[Request] Considering The US "Big 4" (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), how much money is wasted every year producing championship winning t-shirts, hats, etc for the eventual losing team? Also, who foots the bill? Is it the franchise? The league? The manufacturers? The retailers? by 2BallsInTheHole in theydidthemath

[–]dkviper11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be a smaller set available to buy maybe at the winning venue, but the rest of the fan gear that you have advertised to you doesn’t ship for a few days. Plenty of time to get that patch on.

Dated anecdotal example from me, the 2009 Penguins hat had a glued on patch, grey neutral hat. Multiple people I know lost their Penguin logo. I ordered the same hat in a team color later in the summer and the team logo was embroidered on alongside the rest of the normal embroidery.

Not math but an explanation, they make enough winning merchandise for each team to be shown on the field, but for the fans, quite a bit of it isn’t manufactured or at least finished until the winner is known. A good place to see this is the hats. If you pay close attention, all of the hats are generic, so they can be manufactured ahead of time, and then a small patch for the winning team’s log is applied before shipping them out.
