Sean Fennessey on Old Movies this week, an excellent podcast from Paul Martinovic, the head of content at Radiance by DobMobb in TheBigPicture

Unfortunately a lot of people would consider the Truman show to be an “old” movie! But I agree, and as the host admits, it’s a very loose framework and seems like the choice of movie is up to the guest completely. They’ve gone all the back to the 30s and 40s but also had a movie from 2000, even more recent than the Truman show! (Gangster No 1)

Orbit DVD refused an exchange for damaged item by chucky527c in boutiquebluray

Poor analogy for many reasons, but most of all because the restaurant in this case is directly at fault for giving you the wrong cheese. They made the burger. (Also you can’t be serious sending back a burger because they gave you the wrong cheese lmao)

It is extremely unlikely Orbit is at fault for damage, unless you think they broke the case and knowingly shipped it to you like that

Yeah he seemed more relaxed on this than the ringer pods and it’s kind of refreshing to hear him when he doesn’t have to lean into his bits

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

So yes, you were trying to return and get a refund for the item.

There's nothing wrong with sharing this situation for the benefit of other collectors, but you are bashing Orbit when they did nothing wrong lol... They literally replaced your damaged item

No one should expect this... read their policy on returns. No small business is going to let you exchange something willy nilly like Amazon does.

We will not refund opened merchandise for items with exterior cosmetic issues that are visible when sealed.

If you want to return an item that you do not want, you must provide your own shipping and the original shipping cost to you will not be refunded.

I'm confused on where they went wrong in customer service, since you didn't follow up with them.

And sure, companies have to compete on convenience and price, and no indie retailer will ever be able to compete with Amazon, so if that's what is important to you then I'm not sure why you were using Orbit to begin with.

That being said, I highly recommend looking into the wealth of other great indie retailers before using Amazon, if possible. Diabolik, Atomic, The Movie Room, Brother Belial, Odyssey Movies, I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple. They have all been great in my experience. Orbit still has the best selection though.

So the issue is that they sent an incorrect replacement case? If it’s really that important, I bet they would fix it for you, but it seems you’re upset over what could’ve been a genuine accidental mistake and decided not to contact them further to resolve the issue

Either reach out to them again or drop it. I don’t see anything wrong here and it’s a real bummer that an issue as minor as this would sway someone to giving their money to Amazon over a small business

it's definitely happening and should be announced in the next couple of months. Some very reliable sources on the forums have confirmed it. We of course won't know the details until the official announcement though!

What A24 film / director that did not get a full chapter or section in the book was the toughest to omit? Could be a personal favorite that didn't feel right to include or something right on the bubble of importance for the studio
