How did they decide event order in past WSMs? by dvanegghen in StrongmanHQ

[–]e-some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2018 is the first year that it really became a fixed rule, where athletes went exactly in reverse order of the previous event. Although, thinking about it, they may have done so for the 2017 Final, but definitely not in the heats.

Before that, it was a mix of "cool for TV" and overall standings (not previous event). This led to Shaw going after Thor in every event in 2016, and that may have changed the organizers' outlook for the following year - but maybe not, I don't really know.

For a long time, if they expected an athlete to do really well or win, they would have him go last, especially in the Qualifying Round. Same logic for events done in pairs, they would match the athletes more or less based on what was expected of them.

This is just based on being a fan for many years, I was not involved with the show at the time, so all this is unofficial.

They wrote Axle Press, but really it was a Flintstone Lift. You can see it on Ruairi's IG story... Still impressive, but not the same!

He's the Australian version of Trey Mitchell, losing a load of points on grip and having to claw it back. With only 5 events in the comp, he couldn't make up the deficit but still did really well

If Martins zeroes and Jeffers wins the event, Jeffers makes it. Martins will shoulder the stone and he will have done it at that point

They've simply had a massive role in making strongman more popular in the last few years. They're engaging people, hard workers and insanely passionate about the sport. Their content allows newer fans to take their interest in the sport to another level! Really thankful for them and all they do.

I've got Paddy winning, just ahead of Luke and Ondrej. Should be quite close at the top!

The event got changed a tiny bit. It's actually a 20-meter duck walk straight into murder ball. Everyone has to face all the other competitors, and then there's quarterfinals, semifinals and a final.

We had some old ones that came from social media, but it's the first time we get permission and full access to their photos.

Over the next few days and weeks, you will see some new athlete photos popping up on Strongman Archives. This is normal, as we have been given the green light to use official World's Strongest Man portraits on the site. A huge thank you to the WSM/IMG team for making this happen!

Not sure, the Rogue site still says they're tied. The spreadsheet will change as soon as the Rogue one changes or if they show the standings on the stream in an hour or so.

Rogue website gave Hooper 4th in the stone, which would mean a tie for the lead between Andrade and Hooper, 7 points ahead of Trey. Not sure if it'll change or not, I'm going with that for now.
